Is it better to sleep in a very dark room or with a little light?

Just wondering. Which will give better dream recall? Will you wake up from a dream more often in a lighter room? I'm not talking about full lights, just a lava lamp or another small source of light.

And also in which will you have a better sleep?

      Thanks,
      AJ

From my very limited experience I would say the darker the better. When there is a light around chances are that your mind will start thinking about something else than the actual dream that you are trying to recall. Personally, I sleep much better in a dark and chilly room than in a light and hot one. Once again, i speak from personal experiences, I'm not sure if I'm doing it perfectly.

I agree with Axel. To a certain extent it might depend on the person, but in general darker is better. The only reason I can think of that you might want a light on is if you're prone to falling back asleep while recalling your dream(s) and ultimately forgetting them.

I applaud you if you can even sleep on a plane, much less recall dreams.

Light can destroy dream recall, so I would have to say lighter = better, although it does depend on the person somewhat. If you can't get to sleep in full darkness like me, crack a window or something to let in just enough ambient light to be comfortable.

You can do it although you did not understand what I meant. I fly on plane very often (2-12 hours) and 2-3 times had LD(without intending to do it)

      Drugs help.

Not so much with the dream recall though.

What do you mean, I didn't understand you? Didn't you just say that sleep masks are good for dreaming in situations where there's lots of light, for example, on an airplane?

I just pointed out that planes are hard to sleep on regardless of the light.

That truly depends on what you are more suited to, why not try both? I sleep better in dark places, while some of my family won't remember a thing unless there is light <.<
