Thread: lucid dream world better than real world...

so anyone else have those feelings that the lucid dream world is better than the real world?

i mean infinite freedom within your own mind, versus stupid limitations of physical life outside the mind.

i even said that to myself in a high lucid dream like i'd definetly rather be here than real life.


ofcourse i would like to wake up at some point though

Not so far. I had a really long (longest one I've had so far) last night, I was beginning to wonder if it was going to end at one point! Unfortunately, it was also really, really BORING! I can't seem to make anything interesting happen. I always seem to be in my own house and the most I ever manage is to sort of float around a bit. Try to think myself somewhere interesting, or summon someone I'd like to meet, but it never seems to work. Very frustrating, actually!

have you tried leaving your house..? Going outside..?

Here's an idea..

In your waking life, go to your public library, pick up a nature book or photography book with plenty of large scenery pictures in it..

Look at the scenes/images in this book often, as often as you can.. focus on them intently during your waking life and try to burn some of the images into your mind.

Then, while you lucid dream, try to manifest the book. Just the book, not an entire scene. When you manifest the book, flick thru the pages until you find a scene that you would like to visit.. Then as you look at a focal point in the scene, focus your mind on shrinking into the scene and the focal point becoming a little bigger, then close your eyes for a moment and picture that focal point very largely in your head and then open your eyes 'expecting' to see said focal point in front of you.

This may or may not work the first time but with practice you will be able to do it at will. It is much easier to first manifest a small object on a regular basic than try to generate a whole scene.. The rest will come with time..

Stupid limitations are what make my experience of this world unique. You say that there is infinite freedom in my own mind? I disagree, there is the greatest limit, which is the nature of the mind itself. You would, perhaps, like to be immortal, all powerful, but what are you left with after trillions of years? You have probably played out everything of interest by then. Unless you decided that counting to infinity is fun... I couldn't live like that. Either everything is limited or everything is infinite. Of course I don't know what an infinite mind is like, but I'm sure that's the only way I could live with infinity.

I don't want to go too philosophical on you but your question is of a philosophical nature, so too bad.

This is how I see it. It is precisely the constraints and limitations placed on us in waking life that make this world much more valuable and meaningful. If everything was handed to us on a silver platter there'd be nothing to seek, discover, solve, or conquer. It is this challenge that we as human beings live for. Without this process, humans are void of purpose. Everything would simply be taken for granted, and happiness would be a non-existent quality. Joy sure... pleasure sure... bliss sure... but happiness? Never.

We utilise the dream world as a tool for pleasure, thrills, excitement and satisfying curiosities we have about waking life. But it is no more than that, and should not be treated as anything more than that.

I lucid dream because I enjoy the sensory pleasures of a world I create and control. I use the dream world to try things that are impossible, seemingly unobtainable, or maybe even against my value system in waking life. It is the experimentation of actions that carry no consequences that make the dream world such a fascinating and enthralling universe. However, the dream world should NEVER be treated as better or of more worth than real life.

Without waking life, one can not dream.

I definitely think the astral is a better place to be than the "real" World (well some places on the astral anyway)

of course it is better, but only becaue we have the real world to ground us and have something on which to base our comparison.

i just wish i could be in both all the time, limitations suck.

To me the Dream world is better than Real World...Even if isn't lucid (My dreams are always amazing adventures)...

If it's lucid i try everything to stabilize it (when i have LD's they last longer naturally ^^, i don't but i can say that i can dream lucid for more than 1h20..)

i feel a little misunderstood.

i never said i would actually want to give up my waking life. I do enjoy my life, i really do. and what i meant by infinity was that i could do absolutely anything i want to do with no physical strings attatched... who wants to count to infinity am i right? and sure without waking life having these physical limits, the dream world would be boring but having this life, makes me look foward to having my next lucid dream.

and sure, i guess there are limitations in our mind but just as far as we allow ourselves.

Ah ok, well you just didn't make yourself clear at the beginning.

Why close it? I like the thread... and limitations, they are so cool, I made a LOT of rules on dreams just for it to be funnier and more challenging.

i just think its interesting how we have like a whole other universe inside our minds...

some may think its like a blank canvas, in which you "paint" your dream on, and you explore it.

and sometimes, its i tend to feel like i'm in a better place. my body may be on a bed, but my mind is in some other dimmension (not to be taken literally). you know?

Lucid dreams can definitely feel really exciting, and fairly often more exciting than waking life.
If I could be in a lucid dream for as long as I wanted without actually losing any real-life time (in other words, time in waking life stopped while I was lucid) then I don't know how long I would stay in the lucid dream, probably until I started missing my family and friends.
