      Is this a lucid dream?

I don't know how to explain it but, would it be possible to encounter another lucid dreamer(total stranger by the way who happens to be aware that he/she is lucid dreaming also) during my lucid dream?.... is it possible to connect with them? it's like being in the REAL world where you could actually meet and connect with other peopleorSOULS, by all means probably real people too. i was told that lucid dreaming is when our souls separates from our bodies and it wonders off else where?

This is probably not my first lucid dream but since it's the only lucid dream i could remember clearly and i am still asking for a scientific explanation.

At first i wasn't aware that i was asleep my alarm clock went off from my cellphone, i got up like what i always do in a weekday morning (wake up and get ready for work), i flicked my light switch on but does not turn on and i tried flicking it on/off various times and nothing happens. then i looked back at my bed i happen to see myself sound asleep. i was a bit confused and scared so i started to scream but no one heard me. i probably stood staring at my sleeping self for a few minutes and thought that maybe i am my soul and i have separated from my body so i must be lucid dreaming? i remember reading that i could walk through walls in a lucid dream so i walked through walls around my house and stumbled across my brothers bedroom. and he was awake too, him and his gf were getting ready for work. i tried talking to them but later on figured out that they could not see or hear me instead i just sat on his bed listening to their conversation. then i realized i wasn't the only one listening in the room some guy was also there basically eaves dropping too. thought he couldn't see or hear me either but he looked at me and asked who i was? and i asked the exact question back at him. he just replied back saying i got bored so i decided to just go to random homes and listen to random peoples conversation. and then he got up saying well i have to wake up soon then disappeared through the walls. then i woke up thinking i had left my alarm clock on snooze a few times now and i only had a few minutes to get ready for work.

that night after work during dinner i told my brother i had a lucid dream since he was the one who had introduced it. i told him i dreamt of him and his gf talking about planning a surprise party for a friend and how someone by the name Grace wanted to rent a limo for the birthday girl. My brother exclaims that around 5am in the morning that he was talking about the exact things with his gf while getting ready for work. so i'm a little confused. would that be a lucid dream? or was i a soul(a ghost of some sort even) in the real world? if so how could i have known what their conversation was if i wasn't in that moment in time.

if you have any idea what it was please let me know i'm dying to know! I have never dreamed of anything like that ever after that.

That was not a lucid dream (a lucid dream is a dream in which you realize you are dreaming). It sounds like you dreamt you were a ghost.

Unfortunately, there's no scientific evidence to support shared dreaming. :<

Oooooo big letters. Anyways, possibly if you were told that lucid dreams are when you soul seperates from your body, you could have expected that to happen making it more possible. As for the hearing your brothers conversation and then asking him about it in rl, that it quite strange. I have tried numerous tests where I had tried contacting people in dreams, like telling my sister in her dream that if she remembers this dream tell me the code phrase "put the cat in the microwave". I have also tried leaving physical evidence, and no dice. Anyway shared dreaming is a VERY conterversal issue on DV. I say plan an experiment in case something like this happens next time. For example when your floating around maybe look at a book shelf and try and remember the order of some of the books and when u wake up see if your right, you could also listen to your brother again. You should maybe try looking in the fourm beyond dreaming as well, there are always a lot of stuff there about OBE's, shared dreaming, night walkers, and stuff. Also it sounds more like an OBE even though most people, including me, don't think its possible. An OBE (out of body experiance) sounds excatly what you floating and listening to your brothers conversation was like. But that still doesn't explain the light problem, when you where flicking the light switch was the switch actually moving?

ooops yeah sorry about the big letters i didn't mean to sound offensive or anything. i was just kinda playing around before i replied. i get entertained easily. lol. but anywhooo... yeah i should actually try the code phrase scenario. just gotta think of something anyone could remember. oh and about the light switch..... hmm i don't think i felt it at all actually but i'm sure it moved... like i said it went up and down. and the shared dreaming part: do you think i was sharing a dream with a total stranger? who was aware of it?

If you assumed you were dreaming, then you probably had a very small lucid dream. Low level lucidity.

Shared dreams: Improbable... Especially with some random person. It is much more likely it was a smart DC.

I believe that dreams mixed with reading these forums and the hype of lucid dreaming can cause this feeling. I do not think these shared dreams exist, But the feeling you experienced was a dream subject that night.

I do not believe this shared dreaming thing exists. Dreams mixed with reading about lucid dreaming and being excited about lucid dreaming can trigger dreaming about other dreamers. (too many dream words) But other influences can change the subject for the night.
