Either way, they result in the normal confused garble of dream experiences.

A Lucid dreamer is, by definition, much more aware of what is occuring.
So realistically none of these should slip by you.

Definitely had a lot of hour long ones, maybe hour and a half one.

Usually there's a lot of false awakenings in the long ones.

Or it fades to black and instead of opening my eyes in real life I just wait it out for another dream to come to picture.

I remember my first real long one was pretty incredible experience for me.

I've noticed that it's kind of hard to remember what happens during really long ones. There's so much time dialation, usually it feels even longer than an hour and once you wake up it's hard to remember every little thing that happened way early on in the dream.

Presumably my uninsightful comments relate to my poo-poohing of astral travel, NDEs and the like with relevant science.

No they doesn't, the dreamer may just want to call it that way so it isn't confusion but stubborness.
A lucid dreamer is someone who knows they are asleep while in a dream, thats all there is to it, the rest is a plus. Belief too, plays a big role on what you accept and don't. One way or the other, they should slip by realistically.
