Thread: Ways to RC without being a retard

Anyway... I usually reality check via digital clock which has proven reliable to me.

Finger through palm has scared me before though. Even when lucid, it's like watching your finger go through your freaking hand and it looks freaky. Like impossible.

Besides that, as much as I would love to not look like a retard, this can actually be harmful about how you interact with dream characters. If you are afraid to do a reality check in front of people in real life, you'll likely be afraid to do it in a dream. I speak from experience.

Even when I knew I was dreaming, I have still been concerned about what other dream characters are thinking.

So if you can find a way to reality check and not be concerned about what other people are thinking, that'd be good.

I do the watch thing, poke a finger through the hand thing, rubbing of the hands is great for when you become lucid.

But lately I've found that just asking myself if I'm dreaming or not on a regular basis is very helpful.

I use the look at hands technique. All you really have to do is think a reality check. "Am I dreaming" and look around. Once you have that feeling you are dreaming it should be pretty easy to tell.

In my opinion its not about being afraid. Just cautious that you don't look stupid. When I do RCs discretely or not it doesn't make a difference to my dream awareness.

With all the loonies running about these days, I'm pretty sure no one is going to care of you casually reach up and swipe your nose. No big deal. If you start looking intensely at your hands, you may attract a few stares, but nothing really life changing...

You should RC a lot in every job interview you go to. Just to be safe.

I look for the closest solid object. Telephone pole, brick wall, steel doors, etc. I close my eyes and give a running leap. If everything goes black, then I know I wasn't dreaming when I wake up. If I stay conscious, than I know I'm dreaming.

It sometimes attracts a little attention. Best to do in back alleys.

I try to use telekinesis, like making a pen float, or if I'm driving, making a sign shoot up out of the ground.

I may still look retarded if I'm staring intently at objects though, lol.

I try to recall what I was doing one hour ago. If I don't remember, or I just suspect that I could be dreaming, I would do a physical dream check such as the nose one, or making objects float.

I find that to focus and unfocus your eyes you can be a type of reality check.....let me know what you think.

i do it every hour im awake (people can think what they want,maybe my palm just hurts lol ...anyhow its never happened once in my dreams...

yeah i also thought that just asking yourself if your dreaming every hour on the watch chime ,was the main idea of a reality check,so it becomes repetitive , was the actual exercise, and the finger thru the hand would only enforce the idea

i say who gives a fuck about what other people will think about you. do whatever RC you want! and if anybody judges you by that then they can go fuck themselves, who are they? and why should their opinion of you matter?

Now I'm confused. What does dignity have anything to do with it? More people do "weirder" things than check if their dreaming or not. Heck, I do weirder things than that on a daily basis.

If I went to school and started poking my finger at my hands, trying to walk through walls, or attempting to use TK, nobody would give me any respect. As sad as it sounds, most people at my school loose respect for those who look slightly weird.
