How long does it take to get long lucids?

I've had four lucids so far - One on the day I started researching LDing, and I woke when it happened. Two in one night, but they were only semis and I didn't really control the dream scape or gain full awareness. And another last night, in which I tried to firm up the surroundings but it faded in and out (I can't remember doing anything else in this one - I went to bed at 1am and woke up at 3:30am, and it occurred in between this time. Probably ended fast because my REM cycle was just beginning). These all occurred by chance because I haven't brought my watch yet to remind me to RC or attempted to WILD.

It's been around two weeks, and I was wondering just how long it takes to get substantial lucids? I'm getting a watch in a few days so I can RC every hour, and I was wondering if that'd help them firm up or if it just takes time. I usually remember 3-6 dreams per night (four last night), and I was wondering if the number of dreams related to the length/content or anything.

not a matter of time- all depends on how many LD's you have in general and if you use the dream stabilization techniques from the tutorials section.
TAKE DV members advice with caution! some have had zero or 1-2 LD's yet act like gurus
      TOTAL LD's (almost all DILD/MILD) =160!!

For me, I've mostly been working on it since March, and have had at least like 50 LDs, yet haven't really had a satisfying one yet. Most of them recently have been mediocre, with good dream control. So, I've been working on it for 8 months and still haven't had a great, long one yet.

I'd guess it can take at least a year or two for most people to get a good length lucid.
If you see a strange typo in my post, blame my iPad for that.

i have had lots of ld's and the long ones are WILDs. often they seem to have lasted over an hour. I go in and out of dreaming so sometimes its a combo of WILD/DILD/DEILD or whatever.

Then the trick is to remember it when it gets that long.
Parts of it are more lucid than others, and also, some nights are better than others.
but usually my best time of day is after 7 or 8 am for doing this.

It varies quite a bit, but the general norm before people begin having really long, high-quality lucids on a semi-regular basis appears to be at least a year's time. The rewards are well worth it, though.
