      "Zone out" in MILDs?

Usually, whenever I'm trying to do a MILD, I get off-track, (Like, say, a image of a Metroid game pops up) I start thinking about that and talking to myself. Then I'm like OH SHI- and get back to repeating my mantra, only to have to happen a couple minutes later. Any help on this?

Don't worry about it, mate. As long as your drilling your mantra into your skull and whatnot, it doesn't matter so much if something randomly pops up. A lot of people have this problem...I wouldn't sweat it too much. It helps if you're able to fall asleep while you do your mantra, but it isn't imperative. Just keep with it, and you'll be fine. It gets easier over time, too.

If you see a strange typo in my post, blame my iPad for that.

Don't worry it's really common when i've tried (I don't use it much though) and just gently nudge your thoughts back to the mantra

EXACT same thing happens to me. That's the idea in my case. I NEVER fall asleep and realise it.

The hope is that with the mantra work, I DILD (and not WILD like in ur case) into the lucidity.

Lol okay, I have the SAME problem, but apparently it's no big deal. I find it excruciatingly difficult to repeat my mantra religiously throughout the night. Eventually, I get lost in my own fantasy.

But when I feel the pull of sleep, i try to repeat my mantra a few times before falling asleep. it helps.

Also, i thought MILD was a form of DILD, not a form of WILD?

Yes, technically, MILD is a variation of DILD, but is considered distinct enough to have its own name. Some diehards will tell you that a MILD is the same thing as a DILD, but the techniques are quite different. It should be mentioned, however, that a MILD mantra can also be combined with a WILD for increased odds of becoming lucid.
