Lucid dreaming is just not working!!

I dont understand..i try so hard..and even have just tried to let it happen..but no matter what..when i go to sleep..and dream.. I am ASLEEP..there is no other way to explain it, i just cant seem to realize i am in a dream, and ask myself "am i dreaming " ( which i do in real life to help with my dreams ) I can barley remember the detail of my dreams latley as it is..like i used to..let alone take control in them..and it is getting to me....i feel like I am so lost without knowing whats going on..anyway, that was my vent for today!

I'm with you on that. But still, try spicing up your attempts. Even just try setting off 3 seperate alarms on your iPod on weekends - just a simple something that disrupts your sleep pattern and wakes you up a bit inside.

You have the rest of your life, there's no rush.

It took me 6 months to have my first lucid dream. Persistence pays off.

You sound like you're trying too hard. I suggest you to keep your expactation of having an LD joyful and light hearted. Most people who try hard feel some heavyness, and a bit embarrassment, by the frustration of not having their first. Never let any failure or starting dryspell gives your practice a heavy feeling. Sooner or later you'll do it. But you have to be comfortable with your effords first.

On the first day i found about lucid dreaming i tried my best to learn about all the techniques and all of the methods, and decided to try to do it the next day. The next day i tried to wild before i slept and for the first time in my life had H.I and experianced WILD and was on the brink of having a lucid dream but because i didnt have any experiance i got scared and pulled out.
The thing is you have to tried hard to have a lucid you cant just wait for one to happen.

Wow thanks guys, yeah..i will try harder..believe it..but not force it. I am still trying to understand all the termenology, but lucid is what i am hoping to obtain first..the first time i really heard about lucidity was about 2 months a go..and after reading about it, I had one ( or so i think ) and thats why I have wondered why I havent been able to have one again..
In my first ever LD..I was standing at the top of a hill looking down into this pond thing, and there were these two MASSIVE anacondas swimming around..and then i saw my freind floating in there on her stomach. I dont know abou t you..but i was in that dream usual state..hey..check that out..like im watching tv or something. I remember just standing there watching..and all of a sudden , i like woke up and thought.. DO SOMETHING!! Your friend is gonna get eaten by the snakes!!! So I rushed down there, got in the water and was holding the snakes back and she came around and she got out of the pond. Although what did happen in the dream made alot of sence to what was happening in my life at the time ( fighting the snakes off and all) I know that I felt control, and that if it wasnt for reading up on lucidioty, I probably would have just stood and watched her get eaten..not cool.. So this is why I am hoping to lucid dream..again! So I am gonna try tonight..but if nothing happens, its ok..I know it takes time..i just hope I remember more stuff..i hate waking up with my head fuzzy..anyways, thanks for the feedback

Hmm...that actually sounds like the brink of lucidity. A lucid dream means realizing you're dreaming within the dream...dream control is actually sort of separate, neither indicating nor being crucial to a lucid dream. Sounds like you were very close, though.

If you haven't already, I would recommend reading up on the MILD tutorial, and would also consider getting Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming.

Also remember that everyone learns at their own pace. Lucid dreaming takes patience to master. Just stick with it, and eventually, you'll be having lucid dreams on a regular basis. How long this takes varies greatly from person to person. It took me a month to have my first lucid, and have been having them at the rate of about one a month, save for one where I skipped a month. That rate is almost sure to improve, though, as it will for you.

A word of advice: don't think so much as "trying again tonight," so much as a gradual and progressive shift in the way you perceive the world and your dreams. Really, if you use either the DILD or MILD methods, or any variation of them, you try each and every night.

      Good luck!

Persistence is key, as someone above said. It may be frustrating, tiresome, and confusing. But you'll get there. I guarantee it.

EDIT: Just to add, I feel particularly upset for you because of such a long time with no lucids. If there is anything else you need help with, or want to ask any more questions feel free to send me PMs any time you want.

Ah see... you were thinking about that dream with the two snakes, and you dreamed about them again. This demonstrates that we dream about what we're thinking about. It shows that you have the power to influence your dreams. Just keep at it... a lot of people have a lucid the first night after they find out about it, or real soon after - those are "beginner's luck". Then it usually takes a month or two of concerted effort to start to have them more regularly or to be able to incubate them whenever you want.

Definitely get Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming as Mario recommended. And keep reading the tutorials in here and re-reading them now and then... read about other people's experiences and attempts... anything you can do to keep lucidity central in your mind. Keep a dream journal... this is key.

      It will happen, trust me.
