I don't think SP goes any further than you neck. After all, there wouldn't really be any point in having your face paralyzed while you dream
The only thing I can suggest, is not concentrating on the SP.
I'm new to having LD's aswell so do what I do and read as many tutorials and posts you can, not only on WILD's, but other mehods of inducing LD's too. You might learn a lot of stuff, and it might help you find a technique that suits you the best.
Also, Don't worry if you can't relate to everything other people say. I'm pretty sure everyone experiences and feels the different stages of a WILD for example, differently.

RealShift is right, everybody needs their own techniques which they develop over time as they get practice. Something you could try though: When you're in SP, do you ever get any feelings of movement? Involuntary things which feel 100% real, such as rolling, floating or sliding around? (I love that part ) If so, try and control the ride. You could make yourself float away somewhere, which could lead you into a dreamscape, for example. Or, my personal favourite, spin really really fast, like you're on the end of a giant drill. That one usually causes a false awakening (at least for me), from where you can reality-check, and become lucid. But as mentioned previously, the best technique for you is something you put together yourself after trying other people's suggestions. Make sure you check out the tutorials section. It's a great start.

When I WILD I have complete control of my neck, but I hate to move it because if I do I always hear growling.
So yeah just go on with it and soon you will be able to enter your dream.
      Me, "Why are you crying?"
DC, "People won't be my friend because I'm ugly."
Me, "Well I will be your friend... I guess."
DC, "Ewww no! Your ugly too."
