      Freaky endless false awakenings

I'm really in need of advice on this

I've started lucid dreaming for almost a year now, and after each one, I'd falsely awaken. In the beginning I thought, ok, no big deal, I'll just shut my eyes tightly like I always do to end a dream. It worked the first couple of times, but that technique doesn't work anymore.

My lucid dreams now would end in a false awakening, and naturally my first instinct would be to shut my eyes tightly. But now that my mind has grown "immune" to that method, I end up falsely awakening AGAIN in my dream bed. I'd end up falsely awakening maybe 20+ times until I actually wake up. Although I'm almost completely lucid when this happens, this cycle seems endless and it always comes with a horrid feeling of never being able to wake up.

One time, after many false awakenings, I decided to just continue with the dream and get up out of my bed. I felt the sensation of getting up, but I couldn't see myself get up. I still saw myself under the covers. This always happens. If I actually do succeed in getting up, I end up under my covers again.

I had a nasty experience this morning with endless false awakenings. I didn't ask earlier for advice because I've been trying to improve my dream control, but lately it's been fading.

Any tips or advice is greatly appreciated.. Does anyone else have this problem?

This has been happening to me recently, although not as intense. I get about five FA sometimes. Usually happens when I nap (now that I think of it its been linked to a specific couch...hmm) or when I WILD. I have been using it as a tool though, just keeping lucid and going with it. I can see that it is a problem for you though because 20+ times is a bit ridiculous.

I have had the feeling you describe once of just ending up in bed over and over again. This was once coupled with trying to overcome paralyzation each time, which was frustrating.

As for a remedy, I am afraid I don't have much advice. Try getting up slowly and sitting up in bed for a second and getting the scene really stable. That worked for me today and I had a good normal LD after that. To wake up I will just struggle and throw my body around violently to try and wake myself.

This also happens to me sometimes. When it does, I just ride it out, closing my eyes each time, waiting to wake up.

With me, I try to get out of bed, but it's like some kind of energy forcefield is pulling me back into the bed. If I manage to get out, I don't get far before I'm back in my original position. It's really irritating.

Read nightmare journal of walms in the DJ section. He has these FA's every night. It's normal for him.

Well, why not RC everytime you wake up so that you get lucid? And if you are already lucid, don't push the blankets, imagine a new scene instead! Or move sideways until you fall off the bed.

I have no advice, just sympathy.
I've only had that happen to me a few times my entire life, for which I am grateful.

I hope you find a new "cure" soon.

      Weird solution

I have had this several times while I am at school. Generally I have FA when there is something pressing on my mind that I have to take care of. I found a weird way out. If you are lucid when you FA then go to bed. If I try to sleep in my dream it wakes me up. If that doesn't work generally I wake up when I have gone about a quarter of the way through my daily routine (dream showers usually cause me to wake up). The trick is to out run your subconscious.

The only Real advice here is to try not to have too much put off for the next day IRL and try not to worry about each FA. If you worry about it your subconscious will re-enforce it and it will get worse.

Same here. Before I started working on LDing, around middle school, I had problems with this around Christmastime. One Christmas Eve I probably had 10 or 15 FA's where I would run into the living room and discover various scenarios for the morning: awesome presents, nothing at all, etc. One I found the living room was full of bookshelves and that was my present.

So I would agree, just try and relax, and every time you wake up in the morning start with a RC to get in the habit.
