      Waking Hypnagogic Hallucinations

Just a few minutes ago, something really odd started happening to me. I mean, it's 11:00pm for me right now, so I'm not surprised that I'm tired, but I started in with hypnagogic hallucinations while fully awake!

It began in the shower with just a voice out of nowhere saying "hi", along with a quick mental image of a blonde woman who was saying it. After a while, another voice spoke up. And then another. Before long, I was hearing a whole group of people's voices...like the sound of the water in the shower and the voices were one sound, only words were clearly audible, and I had multiple mental images of people with each sound.

The shower over, the voices went back down to just one every once in a while, but then for a few minutes, my vision was flashing from what I was physically seeing to a weird dream. It would only last a moment before flashing back to real life. Eventually things flashed to the dream enough for me to gather what I was seeing, though. I saw a medical room lit only in blue from a bunch of sensors all around. In the middle of the sensors was a lab table with a humanoid on it. Its skin was fully transparent, only visible by its reflection of light. Inside it did not have organs, only a massive brain structure that took up the whole body, and two large eyes. That only lasted for half a minute, though, and then I was fully back awake. But even now, I still hear the voices, and if I close my eyes there's tons of HI, and I'm not near asleep, or even being still so as to induce SP!

It's not that I'm afraid, since I know this means I'm going to have an easy time WILDing tonight, I'm just really not sure how this is possible, and curious if anyone else has had this happen.

If you don't have enough sleep or are tired, you will get a REM rebound, otherwise, not exactly sure what to say. Maybe the voices were just sounds made from the water. As for the images, you still have to remember that you can create them yourself

i would go to a thereapisTT

hey dude what you just explained isnt normal if you are having full on images while awake in the shower being formed infront of you. you might want to go to a therapist along with voices seems pretty weird also i say this because if you start to believe in those images it can become a problem its actually a disease called schizophrenia try to only hallucinate while asleep you don't wanna get your mind use to seeeing things that are not really there while awake.

Well, this morning I woke up with a bit of a cold, so I'd guess that pretty much explains it. There's been some pressure in my ears and slight disorientation and stuff like that, so I can easily see how I would hear voices and see stuff when I'm tired.

I wouldn't worry. Don't see a therapist unless it happens again often! You were probably tired and dowsy because of your sickness. What's more, during everyday action like showering, it isn't uncommon to day-dream.

And it turned out that my cold was the worst I've had in quite a while, so my brain was messed up as it was.

Sounds like either deprivation of sleep or food to me, but I have had the 'flash' image of persons 'trying to tell me something' on perfectly normal days as well.

Have had many experiences like this, and it is usually during a long period of fasting when I am meditating, or just spacing out. I get little 'stop-motion' animation-like characters performing and making noises, accompanied by voices, usually happy/laughing.

Well the voices were happy/laughing for me, too, but I wasn't fasting, meditating, or sleep deprived (I'd gotten nearly 9 hours the night before); I just had had a very active day. Spacing out, on the other hand: definitely.

To make things weirder, though, what I saw was like watching an HD movie rather than a stop-motion one...but I was just spectating, and I could still feel my real body and keep my balance while standing up.

this happened to me once over an extended period of time, say, months. yet no one has ever suggested i'm mad or crazy (except playfully, etc...) i think our society needs to allow for the fact that sometimes we have very unique realities. i enjoyed my visioning immensely and learned a lot...

Some people might be frightened by this sort of thing, but I would consider it a gift, and try and remember everything you can about it. I only experience these sort of things during moments that I have managed (either purposefully or without realizing) to clear my mind of all my own 'ego-speak'; the constant inner dialogue. As soon as there is an empty space, deprived of all my inner banter, 'other' things have room to come say hi!

      Blessings in your search,
      -logos

It is so very refreshing to hear this voiced! It brings me to tears sometimes that I cannot share the images and words that flip through my mind during any given moment, and also that I may never be able to truly understand those within the persons next to me. Thank you for your words!

Take this guy for example, I wish I could share his mind for a day! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFlBJ1xZK10

      this thread really touches me
for a long time i wanted to talk about these things too and could never find others who could relate...
i have volumes of notes on what happened.
you might wish to do the same.
i found it was much like dreams... i had to write them down - the sooner the better.
and i could also ask way cool questions - even better than lucid dreaming since more awake!

Wow, that's cool, you guys! I had no idea this was an experience to be desired (even though I really never was afraid). Thanks for mentioning that

I have auditory hallucinations all the time while I'm falling asleep or in sleep paralysis. Unlike what Logo said, though, I find that they are the voicings of my constant inner dialogue.

There are any number of things that can increase your chances of having hallucinations, like caffeine, for example. If you had a really active day maybe you were dehydrated. I've had dehydration hallucinations before.
