Hard to see in lucid dreams/dreams go black

I have a pretty hard time seeing in my lucid dreams. When I enter my dreamworld and realize i'm dreaming, I have a hard time seeing. Like, it's almost like i'm imagining everything in my head as opposed to actually being there. Usually when I start doing something in my dream, everything goes black. I usually try to keep doing the same thing I was doing in hopes of re-entering the scene, but it doesn't usually work. After a little bit of blackness I have a false awakening, I think. False awakenings don't work on me, mainly because I stay thinking the whole time so I never lose my train of thought as far as knowing i'm dreaming. When I wake up in my bed, I just go on with my dream again and the same thing happens.

so how do I increase the realness of my dreams, as well as prevent everything from going black as soon as I get into my dreams?

Well....Rubbing hands together can help with vividness. Also, just staring at something intently, or saying "clarity".

As for the darkness, it works to look at the sky, at the horizon, and watch it getting brighter as it goes across the entire sky.

OR, you could close your eyes and tell yourself that it will be bright out once you open them!

      Does this help?

Your dream just seem a bit unstabile and it is very common for this to happen. I would suggest performing some stabilization techniques at the beginning of your lucids. They can not only help increase the clarity, vividness, realism, etc, but they can also help prolong your lucidity.

I've only ever needed to physically say out loud "I want to see clearly", and moments later be able to see things as plain as day. I was able to read a newspaper once after saying that during a lucid.

I'm not on DV much these days, but I'll try to toss a cool dream or two into my DJ.

Well one time I was in a lucid dream and it was fuzzy and I imagined putting a pair of glasses on and that made it better. Not sure if you could make a pair of glasses appear if you dreams unstable in the first place though...

This could also be true. If, for instance, you have a poor quality lucid (or possibly a few in a row), your mind may expect the quality to be poor. This can actually cause the poor quality itself. You just need to play around with many different stabilization techniques until you find one (or a few) that works for you. Once you start making/getting stabile lucids, this problem will be erased. May or may not be the problem, but its a possibility. Good luck to you and be sure to update us on your progress so we can help you further, if necessary.
