      Question Reality Check Help...

      Hey,
      I'm doing approx. 10 RCs a day..and apparently it's not enough..
Since RCs are the base of Lucid Dreaming,I'm having troubles...
Q1 - Approx. ... how many RCs do I need to take a day?
      Q2 - What's the most effective RC(other than "Am I awake/dreaming"?)
Q3 - How do I remind myself to do RCs more often?
Sorry if this a dumb question ,but I'm quite frustrated with my RC Troubles...
      Thanks,
      Sam

I read several books about lucid dreaming which state that abou 10 RCs a day should be enough. It's said that the tibetian monks use to make min. 20 RCs a day.
You can't do anything wrong when you do more than 10. I personally do about 10 to 20 a day, there are times when i am more conscious and the rate increases and times when i am to dull to really think about RCing.

Really effective is the Nose pinch RC, the feeling is so uncommon that you should directly notice, youre dreaming.

Increasing the rate of RCs works best, when you link the RCs to some kind of reoccuring incident, you can buy one of those cheap watches that peep every hour, (perhaps you even notice this sound while dreaming)
or accustom yourself to RCing everytime when you look at a normal watch (thats what i do most of the time), this happens quite often the day (especially when youre a nervous person) and you can imediately do a time RC.
There is probably already some RC iPhone App, if you have one I know there is one that allows your iPhone to notice the agitations of your body in REM-Phases (when laid on your mattress) and play some reminding sound...

I find doing them at any random time, but often, because then doing them a lot seems to bring them into the dream world more often.

As much as possible, however, 10 should be a good min as mentioned above.

I use a combination of RCs if possible such as asking if I'm dreaming and trying to see if I can remember what I did the last hour or so. Then I do a hand, palm and nose RC. So, I would do the RC and say that if I am able to breath through a blocked nose, then I'm dreaming, try it and if I can't, then I say it failed and go to the next one. If all of the RCs fail and I can remember what I did the last while, then I would come to the conclusion that I'm not dreaming. This can get pretty annoying though since it takes a couple of minutes to do if you want to do it well and I don't ever recall looking at my hands in dreams so I started only doing the nose RC whenever I see something odd or I have an opportunity.

Really, there is no one way. You can write RC on your hand, have an alarm beep, maybe when looking at a watch/clock, walking through doors, etc.... The only problem with this and this is the main reason I don't do it is because you are conditioning yourself to RC based on these situations. What this means is that you will only RC in a dream if you see RC on your hand but if your hand is clear or you don't see it in a dream, you'll never RC. I just randomly do them during the day but I've been a little lazy lately with the RCs and haven't been doing as much since I am practicing CAT and don't want them to affect the results
