      Need some pointers.

Last Night I tried the HILD method....Problem is..I didn't wake up at 3 like a I wanted too..instead I did the HILD IN A DREAM. I was convinced it was reality and I did have a lucid dream but I pretty much was dreaming about a dream in which I was having a dream.

This sounds confusing I know, But I had like 3 dream phases, I dreamed In my Dream. But I need some help:

      1) I got lucid but I was convinced that it was real becuase I tried RC's and they didn't work. I tried the nostril thing and it did work so I thought it was a dream but I also tried the palm method which didn't work. I couldn't fly..couldn't change anything. It was all very weird and real. I even tried spinning around but that didn't do anything. What am I doing wrong? I can't seem to change anything in my dream.

sometimes dreams are more vivid and everything seems real, so reality checks don't work. if those you mentioned don't work, I would suggest trying to read something. the words will probably distort if it's a dream. if they don't, but you still have a feeling it's a dream (or even if you don't) look around and see where you are. ask yourself, "what am I doing here, when and how did I get here, and what time is it"? you might find that the only explanation for your being there is that you are dreaming.

Ignorant bliss is an oxymoron; but so is miserable truth.

Yea I guess I was just scared. Imagine if I went and jumped off something thinking it was a dream and it wasn't. Next time I lucid I'll do more stuff and be less scared. Thanks.

Often, control doesnt come easily at first. It can take a while before you can gain much control in your dreams. A big part of it is just gaining enough self confidence. If you believe in yourself while dreaming, you can do almost anything. There are numerous things that can help as well, such as voice commands, immagining something around the corner, etc.

As for reality checks, tweak your approach a bit. The fingers-through-the-palm check has a fairly high failure rate, because it depends on something hapenning that shouldn't, and doesn't happen reliably. The nose check, however, I have never known to fail. Another good one is HIGH, or How'd I Get Here? Just ask yourself that, and run through the events and reasons that got you where you are right now.

      Good luck!
Well life is short, so love the one ya' got, 'cause you might get run over or you might get shot.
