      You said that in your dream you tought you was doing the hand rubbing, etc, in waking life. Looks like you was still connected with with your real body, the objective of the stabilization techniques is to anchor you in the dream world , when you do these techniques try to focus on the feeling, and in your senses, for me the hand rubbing works great - I focus on the feeling of my hands and fingers rubbing each other. With the right stabilization technique, your dreams should become really vivid, and your lucidity too.

      And keep dreamjournaling - what's the fun about having a lucid dream when you don't even remember them? It will be like they never happened.
