the answer is no. just because you know your dreaming and can control things doesnt mean that it screws up your REM. your mind still sorts through all the crap. just in the back ground. |

If REM dreaming is your minds way to sort through the day's activities and store memories better, wouldn't lucid dreaming frequently screw with your memory? Kinda like smoking bud, because it affects REM sleep. I noticed the weeks when I smoke 2-3 times a day for 7 day my memory of the week is reduced noticeably, compared to 7 days sober, I kinda can't remember certain conversations and what not. |

Smoking pot is entirely different, because it supresses REM sleep. You still get the same amount of REM when lucid dreaming. As for sorting through memories during dreams, correct me if I'm wrong but this is only one o many theories. Even at that, I believe it suggests that dreams are a byproduct of your mind sorting out memories, not the method for sorting them itself. |
