Bright Sparkly Orb

Hello, I had an experience about 6 years ago I have always pondered. Anyone have any ideas on this: I had been caretaking for my sweet father about two years, living at his home, he was very near death. Not more than a week before he passed, one night a bright light woke me. When I opened my eyes I saw a very bright, sparkling orb shaped light, 12" or so, quite similar to a 4th of July sparkler but bigger and denser. There was no sound. My eyes followed the silent light as it traveled along the corner of ceiling and wall until it was just gone. I pinched myself to make sure I was not dreaming. I was surprised that I was not afraid. I actually felt calm and honored in a way. Anyone?

Here's a thought: What if every thought you have forms a bit of energy -- energy unique to you, and no one else? Because it is energy, once formed it cannot be destroyed. Also, perhaps because it is unique, it is attracted to itself. So, over the course of a person's life, this unique energy accumulates with every thought, gathering itself into a compact point of energy... perhaps a ball. But wait, there's more: What if, say, when a person dies, their consciousness has an opportunity to join with this accumulated ball of energy, where it can reside forever as a free, permanently and uniquely energized soul? And the quality of this energy ball is based directly on the quality of the thoughts that its creator accumulated throughout his life. If one's thoughts are honorable, true, compassionate, and such, then the energy ball will be bright, strong, and very receptive to the maker's consciousness on death. If one's lifetime of thoughts were cruel, self-serving, empty, dishonorable, and such, then the energy ball would be dark, compressed, cold, and not very able to absorb its creator's consciousness on death. So according to all this, that ball of light you saw might just have been your father's accumulated energy, perhaps becoming manifest because his consciousness was almost ready to join it. And from the way you describe it, his was a fine soul indeed. This was just a thought. All of it could well be wrong, but your post brought it to mind, so I thought I'd share.

Whatever your father was, you'll never know for certain if that was him. What if the orb was another spirit who decided to accompany your father during his transition? That's just an example. Orbs have been associated with many energies world wide. To say what it is or is not, is not up to us. It was your experience, we have no way of knowing for sure. Sageous, you're giving the girl false hope. You might actually know what happens after life but I'm surprised to see you explaining her experience to her.

^^ I wasn't going to respond to your earlier lecturing, Belle, but for some reason now I think I should: Respectfully, I think you might be drawing a bit too much information from my post, and perhaps casting unnecessary judgments on my intentions ... not to mention choosing to instruct me on what to share with people, which seems quite the presumption on its own. Do you possess some moral authority to which I should perhaps be bowing? I was simply sharing a thought, a thought I've considered often, and one I felt the OP might find interesting... that was what she requested, wasn't it? I was not seeking to cast false hope, nor did I assume that my form of writing was a directed inquiry (it just sounded good that way). It would have been quite nice if you had simply chosen to share your own thoughts about the thing Kattrinka saw, rather than drawing conclusions about my intentions and, oddly, telling Kattrinka that she should not be curious about what it was she saw. Aren't we all here simply to chat, and aren't we allowed to chat about things that are truly unusual, even if we cannot know what they are? If not, then why? If things should not be discussed, why did you post? Just to lecture us? [Also, in the name of avoiding misunderstandings, I am making this post respectfully and without any sarcasm, hurt feelings, or anger... I am simply stating my position.]

Sageous, I did cast a few extra shadows into your post. It wasn't to poke at you, but at her. You've been around a while, share very beneficial posts. Instruct very needed courses. Though the opportunity to share a different viewpoint presented itself and I thought it worthwhile to make an attempt. I DID share my own thoughts on what Kattrinka saw. In case you missed it, my thought was that it shouldn't matter what we or anyone else thinks she experienced. So many look for outside explanations on why things happen. With this specific context it's an interesting experience, yes. I could have simply said, "Cool, Kattrinka, beautiful experience with your father." Could have. Yet, I didn't. This thread could fill up with experiences others have had, beautiful sentiments, emotional support, all sorts of wonderful things. I wanted to offer something a little more rare. The opportunity to see why people desire those experiences, what is it she's exactly searching for. Not just leave her with feelings of happiness she can't do anything with. I wanted to provide an idea instead of a resolution. As a teacher, wouldn't you agree students should be provided ample opportunities to explore contrasting ideas?

It could be ball lightning. That would be pretty bad ass to see ball lightning as it is an extremely rare phenomenon. Was it raining, or cloudy outside? Or had there been a storm recently, or right after you saw it?

I've been away for a few days spending time with my darling grandchildren and come back to find these unnecessary sarcastic remarks by you Belle. I tried to be gentle with my critique of your first remark to Sageous, but it must have annoyed you to even be criticized at all. Then you ramped it up to the disrespectful level to me, the juvenile: "Now what?" Then the true impetus for your sad attitude; you felt compelled to "poke". Your thought that "it shouldn't matter what anyone thinks about what I experienced" is completely and utterly wrong. THAT in fact WAS my "direct inquiry" I wanted to hear ideas. Ironically your idea of what the orb was close to mine, but the rest of your remarks, in my opinion, did not offer anything "rare" at all, sarcasm as an attempt to seem superior is pedestrian and juvenile. Trying to cover it up with intellectualizing was very obvious.

I think what Belle is trying to say is that you don't need someone else's inquiry to explain anything. It is all well and good to compare and analyze different experiences. But the one doing the experiencing needs only to look inside his/herself to decode one's own experience. Conversation is a healthy excersise to analyze experience though. I am confident that there are a ton of shamans around the globe who can tell you more about orbs from direct experience with them. In the end though, it is you who has been 'granted' the experience. Judging by what you said in this thread is has been an honor and has emotionally affected you. There might be a deeper underlying reason that this happened to you in the way it did. It certainly seemed to have touched you and that is beautiful in and of itself already.

Ahh, i can't stand conflict. Ofcourse, debating the usefulness of discussing psychic phenomena is just a much a part of this forum as are the topics their selves. I hope we can discuss ideas on what orbs are but i doubt we will get to anything worthwhile. I certainly don't have much to add, but there's some cool souls looking around these forums from time to time so... who knows? As for ideas to understand what you saw. If you really want to know what it was. You are going to have to find out for yourself. I could tell you but then you still would need personal confirmation. Try summoning an orb in a lucid dream? Then decide if you want to summon an existing orb, or if you want to create one for yourself. Atleast, that's a start. Actually, what do you believe the orb represents? What have you heared about it? I think that would be interesting to hear. My gut feeling tells me you already know exactly what it was.

Dthoughts, I feel the same way about conflict but I don't shy away if needed. I realize I will never know what it was. I have had a couple of 'psychic' experiences in my fairly long life but I don't know anyone with these kind of experiences thus have no one to discuss with, so I am here. I haven't heard anything and oddly for me haven't even done an internet search re orbs. I found this forum after researching a strange dream I had. Lucid dreaming per se doesn't interest me, even tho I've had them, naturally not deliberately. I don't think the orb represented anything. I believe it WAS something. Something very special, possibly an entity coming to guide my darling father "home". My dad, who was an amazingly good man, died a hard struggling death from emphysema, the last day he was comatose and his face was flushed and grimaced with the struggle. After he passed I kept going in to look at him, his face was white, yes he was dead, but it was almost glowing, with a very peaceful, happy expression. I know how corny this all sounds, but it's how it was.

I realize I will never know what it was. I never said that.. you certainly can know... If said orb was an actual entity then you could meet it again and speak to it. Then you will know. Ofcourse you might doubt and think of insanity but rest assured. If speaking to spirits counts as insanity then count me in lol i'm fricking mad! Dying is such a difficult experience. Humbling for the best of us. I truly believe the way you die and approach dying is going to affect you when the soul finally leaves the body. Personally, i would rather not choose for euthanasia and opt for a natural death. My granddad choose euthanasia after months of futile struggling and painful chemotherapy. It happened not too long ago and the last words he said to my father where so fricking random. Talking about how me and my sister are "hungry". Dad being the baboon that he is probably just shrugged it off thinking he's delirious. But i've been told (by someone on this forum) and believe that a man dying is more lucid than a man fully living. For he is the one transitioning into the world of which we are only a mere reflection. So i'm glad your old man was peaceful in this transition. I think if he returned home you can meet him again. Perhaps he knew where he going just before he died and that made him happy? I must sound like a stoned out of my mind hippie right now. I am not stoned. Sorry i can't say more about the orb i just felt like sharing more about death after hearing your heartwarming story. About the orb, with the word "represent' i didn't mean symbols as in dream symbols or something. As for what it is, my honest thoughts are that i really don't have any idea. But i've seen little sentient balls cruising around the universe at lightspeed. I've also tried to exorcise negative thought-demons and for some reason i envision them as tiny balls of energy that i am slamming away out of people's brain. No idea where they end up though. So for me it was interesting that sageous also somehow connected thoughts to these psiballs.

Now....not so much....and I wholeheartedly believe that people can speak to them. I don't feel compelled to actually speak to it tho.....it was a calm, settling experience, which as I said in my op I was surprised with. It's ok the not knowing, I was simply curious if anyone had ideas about it. Death, oh yes, the long sickness is so hard, for all. Even tho your granddad may have had the wrong opinion of his granddaughters, maybe due more to the generation gap or a closed mind, he was a brave man. I understand people choosing euthanasia, but I'd never have the balls to do it! Whether it be my upbringing or the morphing into my beliefs now, for me it's wrong. I prefer things natural...an ex-hippie as it were Hmm.....speaking of balls....you see them? Interesting.....they say everything, is made up of energy....vibrations.... Life is such an adventure.....

Well i smoked a certain hallucinogenic substance to see this forementioned set of balls. It was very weird that, but really really intense. Think of the Large Hadron Collider. How they propel balls really fast. That is how i felt at that moment. There are good and bad spirits. This divide is important and unrecognized amongst new-age hippies who opt for a viewpoint where all is love. Some spirits will harm you if you let them. Once a month i take mushrooms. And i definitely contact something. Haven't been much in the deep yet. But im 21 years old, there's plenty of time for that later. As for generation gaps, xD. I was thinking of this, and i believe there is a repeating pattern in society where youngsters lose touch with the old garde. It is again this time. Both parties need to accept each other more, the young need to acknowledge and respect those who came before them. And in turn the old guys and gals need to acknowledge the youngster's wisdom. With all our knowledge about technology and physics that wasn't available back in the day we know a little bit more about the world than they did in the 70s.

You could of just been seeing thing because you had just woken up. Experience hallucinations upon waking up is not unheard of, and even common in some situations like with sleep paralysis.

Thank you Alric for your idea. Thing is, the brightness is what woke me up. I was aware of the brightness thru closed eyes first, then opened my eyes. I wake up alertly, never groggy. I was completely aware and conscious while I watched the orb travel slowly, probably a full minute.
