Can someone tell me what this is?

I'm not sure if its something paranormal or something scientifically verified.

Lately I've been doing something. It's a bit hard to explain. It's sort of like meditation but not. What I do is close my eyes for a few seconds, tilt my head back a little and try to invoke/bring up a feeling I frequently feel when I'm sleeping.

I'm assuming it's serotonin because a deep peace and pleasurable feeling washes over me. My thoughts also get a little cloudy. It feels so strong I swear it's almost spiritual.

It might have something to do with being sleep deprived. I dunno.

Just meditation. If you're sleep deprived a lot, it could just be relaxation. Or your brain goin that fucking god i'm finally gonna get to sleep. But yeah I have done this twice while meditating and I think it's serotonin. The first time I did it it got so strong that I had to stop meditating and just collapsed on the floor, breathing heavily with pleasure.

take a look over some of the stuff i posted in this thread, it may be what you're talking about.

Being fully aware of the air whipping by you, controlling every movement of every single atom in your body with a single thought. It's real freedom, and there's not a word good enough to describe it, so I'll just call it dreamy for now."

It doesn't seem very similar. I'm very familar with adrenaline or rather I can imagine this rush of energy that's described. They feel like polar opposites to be honest.

Also the feeling I experience is more localised in the head rather than throughout the body.

So it feels like you took a tab of ecstasy? I know that dumps your serotonin all at once..

Ecstasy is a stimulant. To me it sounds more like having an orgasm lol.

But that feeling the original poster described is similar to what someone on Ecstasy would say, and ecstasy affects serotonin.

It's just such a random overexaggerated comparison to make, I cannot comprehend why your mind would even go there. From what the OP described it sounds nothing like taking ecstasy to me. Yes ecstasy causes the brain to release serotonin...but so do a million other things...like orgasms, exercise, hunger, and sleep for starters. I guess there just seem to be a lot more reasonable comparisons to what is being described here than taking a roll.

Well I can't make the comparison with ecstasy (never done it) but orgasm doesn't seem too far off. Probably the feeling after an orgasm is more accurate since it's really a state of mind.

Yeah that's what I meant actually...that great relaxing feeling just afterwards not the orgasm itself. Is it anything like a head rush when you stand up too quickly? Could maybe have something to do with the blood moving in the head or some change within the inner ear from tilting your head back like what. Does merely closing your eyes and tilting head back make you dizzy/give you a very slight rush? It sort of does so for me...not sure if this is what you mean or not though, but if that's the case...I don't think it's anything unusual?

(also it could very well have something to do with energy flow inside the body/chi but I'd prefer to exhaust any simple/more reasonable explanations before diving into metaphysical territory)

sounds like an endorphin rush of some sort... the primary neurochemical responsible for the glee during relaxation/meditation. or a combination.

it may or may not have anything to do with the movement of the head too, it may just be that you associate this feeling with tilting your head back.

try to invoke the feeling without tilting your head back, then you'll have a better idea if it's some form of neurons firing from the physical movement or something more mentally triggered.

Lol yes actually. I haven't taken MDMA but from what I have read, it feels the same. Probably less intense though. Basically a mental orgasm and happiness/euphoria. Not sure if it's the same thing as the OP had however, that's just what I thought he was talking about.

I would be willing to say a roll is similar to an extended orgasm.. It's that amazing feeling for longer than the span of an orgasm.

Aqua I'm not sure why you say their are more reasonable comparisons to make, especially when they all have some similarity..

Neo, you might want to try this.

      Read the entire thread.

      http://lucianarchy.proboards.com/ind...ad=3681&page=1

      Also,

      http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/s...d.php?t=222379

Also, check out the adrenalin rush thread in "fitness and health" subforum.

I've been looking for a scientific explanation for this, but came up with nothing.

Out of all the research I've done on this, It seems it IS something spiritual. It's non-physical spiritual energy. Connection to god-consciousness. Reiki, Chi, Qi/Ki, consciousness, Reiki, life force, whatever you want to call it.

I can do this too. Some people have it stronger than others, others have it weaker. But I believe everyone's "third eye" is waking up as we approach 2012.

I won't doubt it anymore, at first I thought I was crazy, or too open-minded but now I am 100% sure this is real. I even heard this in a very old rap song. they were talking about our third eye is blind.

^^^ I knew that was coming. Just a fucking smart ass. I said that to add to the fact that not "crazy" people believe this stuff is true, but still not known to the mass.

By the way if your so skeptical, why are you trolling here? Your not adding anything helpful or positive to this thread.

Lol I'm not trolling. This thread has nothing to do with 2012 lol so why don't you gtfo?

I started out helping by saying yes I've experienced similar things etc. The only person I could have potentially trolled is you. But it wasn't on purpose, I was laughing at your reasoning.

      Just ignore it.

(oh, and rappers are crazy...you probably shouldn't use them to prove anything about non crazy people )

I think there is something to the whole 2012/psychic correlation. Cyclic13 posted a really interesting video about this awhile back...I'll see if I can find it.

Nina, can you provide a link to the page the video is on in the above post? for some reason Firefox is barring me from watching it.

This is my opinion on 2012, I didn't draw the cartoon though.

It's funny that you say this, some rappers believe the same thing you do ( i.e. third eye ). Your calling yourself crazy lol.

I think I've been developing it more because i've been able to visualize in deeper detail. Like if I visualize the inside of a car, now I can actually feel and see the entire inside ( colors, feel, etc. i can basically draw out the entire inside of a car in my mind ) whereas before i'd be able to only visualize an "idea" or glimpse of it.

Practice visualization, the detail gets better the more you do it. I think this is developing the third eye.
