      Do you believe in ghosts?

I find this topic interesting. So I decided to post it for the people who are interested in Paranormal Phenomena. I have been watching Taps. A Ghost Hunters show on the Syfy channel. And I was wondering if anyone believes in ghosts, spirits, shadow people, demons, etc. What do you guys think of this? Has anyone ever experienced paranormal activity in their houses? From what TAPS has experienced. I was wondering what you people think.

TAPS is good, did you see that episode where they got that psychic to try and read one of their minds, and they caught a beam of heat moving from one of their heads to the other, perfectly timed with the reading? That was odd.

I'm more on the side of not believing in ghosts though.

Nice, I never seen that episode. Do you know what episode that was so I could check it out?

When I was younger, I believed in ghosts. However, as of now there isn't enough evidence to convince me of their existance. I feel that with the massive about people who have lived over the past 10,000 years, human's evolutionary ancestors not included, ghost experiences would be much more prevalent than they actually are.

I do believe in them. Mainly because I have heard so many stories from family and friends.
And, well, I reckon it could be possible to explain scientifically. You never know, there could be something to do with the energy from the signals in our brain, either "escaping" or changing form to some other form of energy. Maybe a form of energy unknown to us currently.

Although, you do have a point there, Catbus.

      I believe in ghosts.
There is a difference between ghosts and spirits. Not everyone who dies becomes a ghost. A ghost is someone who doesn't know they are dead, or otherwise can't move on. Being a ghost is like being in an unlucid dream.
If anyone wants to know about a crazy experience of mine, it is in my dream journal on page 3 or 4 called "Spirited Away or The Haunted Canyon". The link is in my sig.

Not really, for the reasons of:

      1. With tons of money for research and expensive equipment, paranormal shows still fail to find evidence. Not any more evidence than there is of Santa Claus.
      2. It's really illogical in general. I believe those who actually hear and see ghosts have a mental disorder with hallucinations, similar to sleep paralysis.
      3. I never saw one ghost even near NYC around 9/11...

I don't see why someone would accept something with no evidence at all, and still proudly claim that it exists. Do you see your stance on ghosts is somewhat delusional? You have absolutely no rational reason to believe in them, yet you do. I'm not trying to be rude, I'm just trying to figure out why someone would waste energy and effort on a phenomenon that has to yet be demonstrated to anyone.

Not to mention almost every "ghost hunting" show has been exposed at least once for tampering with evidence, or staging things.

I do believe in ghosts... but I don't try to force the belief on anyone... since there is no evidence... its something that has to be a belief, kinda like God or anything else paranormal or metaphysical.

But, concrete evidence isn't needed for personal belief... and I'm honestly open to anything being possible in some way.

Yeah, I do, to an extent. I'm not a die-hard believer in ghosts and spirits but I feel there is some truth to it.
Also I love TAPS because they try to prove that their findings are NOT paranormal and instead look for scientific conclusions. I learned from them that iron in simple objects like old bed frames can affect the human brain and make you feel dizzy and even make you have faint shadow-y hallucinations. A lot of old places where ghosts have been sighted have iron framework in the windows or beds.

I enjoy watching their shows. I'm not a firm believer in ghosts myself, but I did see some footage where a guy's shirt was tugged while he was walking around a haunted area. You could see the shirt actually being pulled... It sure scared the crap out of him!
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

I like the info on the iron Moose, makes a ton of sense.

I'm not sure about them, not enough to say yes, but my thoughts are similar to Einstein's. I believe it could be alternate dimensions slipping through cracks in this one, or time folding on itself touching together in certain spots ever so faintly and making certain ripples in our reality... donno though.

But i would certainly be willing to go into ANY supposed haunted place to find out.

Being fully aware of the air whipping by you, controlling every movement of every single atom in your body with a single thought. It's real freedom, and there's not a word good enough to describe it, so I'll just call it dreamy for now."

The "ghost" I saw was seen by five other people. For me, that makes it illogical to say it is a hallucination. If it was a hallucination, I should have been the only one to experience it.

Btw, when you start saying that people who see ghosts are just idiots, other people are less likely to share their experience with you. Just in case this conversation has ever popped up in real life, its' not that enough people haven't had this sort of experience, it's just they don't want to talk to you about it.

I saw a Faerie seen by three other people at the same time for about five minutes until I got bored and blew on her, and she disintegrated into particles before our eyes. We all saw her, in Florida no less!

@MM: Your theory sounds plausible. The Faerie seemed to not be aware of us, but lost in subjective daydreams. I wanted a reaction out of her after about five minutes of staring at her doing nothing. That is why I blew on her. She was made of criss-crossing threads of translucent gossamer threads of pulsating light the color of moonlight. Although she was transparent, it was as if an image of a woman with a dress on was translucent. It wasn't like I could see through her dress and see her naked, or see through her skin and see her bones. It was like a whole image of a woman with wings wearing a dress was translucent.

When I blew on her, she disintegrated into chunks of fabric made of woven moonlight which disintegrated even more and disappeared. I heard a noise that was a cross between children laughing, birds chirping, and little bells ringing, but all one noise, not three noises.
I have experienced similar things a few times, but I don't tell about them because I was by myself and I can't say that "other people were there who also saw it."

But I don't think that Faeries are the same thing as ghosts.
The only times I have experienced ghosts were on Datura (see my dream journal: Spirited Away or the Haunted Canyon)
But the faeries were all sober...

Make what you will of that.

I have to agree with this. Personally, I haven't had any ghost encounter that I can recall, but, I don't see why not at all. Since I believe in spirits, ghosts are only a stones throw away

      Sure, why not?

I have yet to hear anyone compare a map of the Ley Lines with a map of major Hauntings. Realistically, you would think areas on the planet high in energy would have the most Hauntings. Would be interesting to see the results. Anyone up for the challenge?

I believe in ghosts though I never had an experience at first hand but I think my sister did.

I used to believe in them but after I became serious about Bible study, my beliefs changed.
I DO believe in demons. My views are that ghosts are merely demons misleading people.
