Oh you are sooooo dead on there. You will start to see many parallels of lucid dream and real life stuff.

I think all this is common. You just have to find what works best for you and with practice its gets easier. You sound like you are right on track though.

I had a very vivid scene this morning where I was looking at hard packed earth with fall leaves scattered about. I could feel the cool wind on my body as I watched the leave swirls around and blow away. Then in an instant I was back in bed. I think this is just being on the border line of entering the dream. When you get that you know you are close.
