      Nicho's Workbook...!

      Reality Checks:
      - I currently use Sleep Check Reminder, which is free from the Android market place and is awesome, 30 checks randomly throughout the day.
      - I use the nose pinch, clock double take and finger through the palm at the moment.
      - When I'm in bed, I close my airway naturally and try to breathe, so as not to move and spoil any chances I might have at WILDing.

      Dream Signs:
      - I don't yet have any dream signs. I have had dreams of nuclear bombs randomly through my lifetime, but so much time between each one.
      -
      -

      Short-Term Goals:
      - To have a lucid dream that I can control.
      - Improve my dream recall even more.
      - To stay focussed on learning.

      Long-Term Goals:
      - Become efficient at lucid dreaming.
      - To create my own dream scene and control my actions within the dream.
      - Too many long term goals to mention, see 1000 things to do in a lucid dream, most of that, apart from meeting Justin Beiber, lol.

      Lucid/Dream Recall History:
      - Good to excellent by default. My Dream Journal. Would like it to be more consistent though, as in at least 2 dreams or more per night.

      Current Technique:
      - I have recently been trying WILD, but have since come to the conclusion that I'm trying to run before I can walk. I am now going to try my hand at SSILD as I have read many good reports about the technique and I like that there is no need for expectation there. I will keep you informed of my progress, good or bad.

      Question about SSILD

Had a late night last night, so I used it as a WBTB as I'd actually fallen asleep on the sofa when my girlfriend woke me up. Stayed awake for around an hour - 20 minutes the previous night - so as to see if there was any significant change.

I noted that when I start to practice SSILD in my bed, I get a feeling of motion, like the room is spinning slowly. Is this normal, does it mean it's working, because I don't do anything because of it i.e. try harder, but then I seem to lose the effect and fall asleep. Any notes would be greatful.

I'll be updating my DreamJournal and I'll pop in some dream snippets later today, I don't have time right now as I'm going to the lake...

      Thanks,
      Nicho...!

I was on the forum for quite some time yesterday and I came across CrazyInsane's tutorial on CANWILD. I think this tutorial is excellent and merits some testing, so for the next week or two, I will be practising this technique, at least until I get the hang of waking without disruption.

Excellent goals. Staying focused on my goals is a great motivator for me. I try to keep my short term goals simple and attainable that way you always feel like you're progressing - positive attitude is key.

Nothing wrong with holding off on WILD for a bit, I've had some pretty awesome results with SSILD myself.

Feelings of motion, or images/shapes behind the eyes usually means i'm in the process of falling asleep. Falling asleep is what you are going for after you finish the SSILD cycles. I believe -- in the SSILD tutorial CosmicIron mentions that the faster you fall asleep after completing your cycles, the better off he believes you'll be.

      Update.

Ok, I tried again last night with the SSILD coupled with CrazyInsane's CANWILD induction technique. The first night, I slept right through the alarm and last night my earphones fell out, they usually stay in right through the night and I have to wear them as my partner doesn't like to be woken by a blaring alarm at 4 - 5am. So a little more volume and maybe some super glue - kidding. Anyway, just putting it down on record so I can keep track of my progress.

Thanks for the input, I find that I lose concentration very quickly when practising SSILD, but I understand that's ok right. How long were you practising it before you had any discernible results please. Also I find that as I'm focussing on one sense, I'll kind of pre-empt my next, i.e. I start listening before I've stopped observing and then start feeling before I've stopped listening and so on, in your opinion - or anyone else's - is this acceptable as I find it hard not to do this.

Thanks in advance for any help and advice.

I know it's off topic, but I just wanted to test my first ever sig attempt.

I find it difficult myself to stay focused on the cycles if I do it on an awakening, so I couple it with a 10-15 minute WBTB usually. I find that it helps me stay aware a little longer to complete the cycles, but anything longer than 15 minutes for me usually results in trouble going back to sleep.

I tend to 'jump' ahead on the cycles myself especially when I start to drift off. Personally, Id say its acceptable considering I do it and have had about 10+ lucids using the technique - something has got to be working.

The first week I made myself do the WBTB and then SSILD cycles I had 3-4 lucids which is a lot for me in a week. After that things leveled out a bit.

Hey! Just wanted to let you know you can change your signature in Control Panel > Edit Signature (located on left side)

If you want to add a picture, put the link under "upload signature picture" (use the first one where you have to upload it somewhere to the web first, and not directly taken from your pc). Once you have your link, click "insert signature picture".

This way, you won't have to keep typing your sig everytime you post :3

      Update.

No dreams to remember last night. My CANWILD alarm didn't work for some reason, I've had a fiddle with it though and I think I've sorted it. So hopefully it'll work as it's supposed to tonight. Nothing much else to report, as usual I will update tomorrow with any results.

On a side note, I will be setting my CANWILD alarms for early morning, but I will also be attempting a WBTB with SSILD. Gotta give me 10 out of 10 for effort, lol.

      Cheers,

      Nicho...!

As per usual, nothing to report, I just keep sleeping through my alarms and when I crank them up, they scare the bejesus out of me, which kind of defeats the object. Last night I downloaded Brainwave Mind Voyage (Series 1) Trance Induction & Lucid Dreaming. I'm going to use this as I go to sleep, coupled with my WBTB and CANWILD. If I have any results to report, you'll be the first to know, well second, as I'll probably wake my partner when I'm jumping up and down on the bed shouting 'I did it, I did it'. If anyone would like a copy of the mind voyage, I'd be happy to dropbox it for you, it's basically relaxation and hypnosis, if nothing else, it sends you to sleep super fast.

No dreams that I can remember either, so disappointed there too, my recall seems to have suffered drastically in the last few weeks and I don't know why.

      Cheers,

      Nicho...!

Hello again. Don't worry too much, recall fluctuates especially if you're new since you are still adjusting. Just keep trying to recall them and it will get better soon.

I would also like to grab a copy of the mind voyage btw! :3

      Hey Nicho,

On the recall, you might try some memory exercises before sleep. Something like recalling the last dream you had in as exact detail as possible. Or recalling the day in detail and the previous days if you can. Also, awareness checks during the day go a long way with recall, and raising general awareness at night.
Keep up that effort and it will pay off!

Just a quick note to say my interwebby thingy will be off for a week or so and as a result, I wont be posting unless I'm at my parents, such as now. I will however be keeping up with my practices, so I should have something to say when I get back on, hopefully something good.

      See ya'll soon.
