      Staring out with lucids

Well i have had two unsuccessful attempts, currently i am starting by thinking about lucids frequently throughout the day, remembering the finger technique, remembering to think of scenery before sleep, saying to myself i will Lucid dream, looking for dream signs as i am starting a dream journal.
Anyone got any other newbie tips?

Thats a nice start. Be sure to reality check too, where you do something while awake that usually would not work properly in a dream. Common reality checks include:
      - Counting your fingers (in your dream, you can have more or less than 5 fingers on a hand)
      - Plug your nose (you can still breath in dreams, of course)
      - Check a clock (time rapidly jumps about in dreams, according to analog clocks-- digital clocks often show up a distorted LED in dreams, too)
