      First of all, to DV!

For me it helps a lot to focus on where I want to fly. Take aim somewhere and focus your intention on flying there. It'll comes with practice. If you want to fly around, or fly in a straight line, take aim at the horizon and remain in that steady state.

Another good way is to try the three step method on the ground. Take one step, then another bigger step and finally a huuuuuuuge step that sends you flying.

Oh and, congrats on your first lucid

I have used many different flying techniques in my dreams, but I think the one that has worked the best is to "swim" through the air. This is useful for a more controlled flight and tends to feel more natural.

If you're having problems with take-off, a good method is to get some altitude. Climb a tree or go to the top of a really tall building, then leap off at an upward angle.

It's also fun to use various flying aides, such as a magic carpet.
