I suppose an introduction is in order

      Ello,

Well from the PM I got saying I should probably come here first, I did, and I suppose I'll give ya my story. Well first off, its nice to be here! I hope if not now, then later on I can be as much help to the forum as possible. I first found out about Lucid Dreaming as I found out its called awhile back on a forum, there was a section called "life hacks" that introduced how you could actually control your dreams and things of that sort. I was REALLY fascinated, but never really pursued it fully, although the idea of it always stuck with me.

After recently seeing Inception, that fascination became fertile, and I found this place. I can't believe that this is even possible! I mean, I can actually dream about almost anything I want if I become Lucid... Do anything... Go on incredible adventures, go to places that I've always wanted to go to, meet people I've always wanted to meet, or haven't seen in awhile, travel through time, or maybe just relax on the beach and smell the salty sea air, with a cooling breeze, and even relive memories of the past.

I used to have dreams all the time when I was a kid, or at least ones I could recall. I remember me and my cousin when he was visiting would get up in the night, wake each other up, and say that we just had this incredible dream and what happened in it and how we needed to get back in to it somehow... Which sometimes we indeed did. It was very fun. Ever since I became a teen though I never really have dreams that I can remember anymore... And if I do, its really fuzzy, and of course very random, they just don't seem to be as awesome as they used to be. Although sometimes I do have one or two dreams like once in a very great while that the clarity of it is incredible. (Interestingly enough ever since I found out about this subject a night or two ago my mind was really on dreams, in the morning I woke up and was mad because I didn't remember anything, I tried really really really hard, and it came to me what I dreamed, it was kinda cool, very fuzzy and in parts, but still. ) Either way, I am very determined to become awesome at Lucid Dreaming.

This site from what I've read so far is great though! You have guides everywhere to do this! If I'm not mistaken having a dream journal is very important... Is it suggested I use the dream journal feature on this site or just in a notebook? From what I've seen are my entries posted publicly??? Is it possible to make them private? Ooor yeah. Also any tips, and suggestions that you can give me will be highly appreciated.
Also another question I've always been wondering... When your in a dream, and your lucid and everything, when you eat something, lets say... Sushi (my favorite food), or really any food, how does it taste? I mean does it taste like the REAL thing oor? Lol.

Anyway its nice to be here again, and thanks for reading!

Hello, Welcome to DreamViews!. First off, with recall you have to determine how any substance that you consume will effect your dream recall. Such as many Psychoactives, (Example: Alcohol, Marijuana, MDMA, PCP, LSD) Can either increase your recall, or be completely detrimental to your recollection. But taking a substance that supresses REM sleep, you will be rewarded with REM rebound the next night. Secondly, Stress... going to bed stressed is VERY detrimental to your recall. I would suggest something that would relax you before sleep. Thirdly, many foods and vitamins can be very beneficial to your recall, I would recommend taking B6 before going to bed, or if you wake up 4-6 hours after going to sleep. Your recollection and vividness of your dream will be boosted.

Now that I covered dream recall, you should take these tips to the best of your ability and combine it with a well organized, detailed dream journal. After that, you've won half of the battle. another suggestion, visit the tutorial section of the forum to learn Induction techniques. again... Welcome to Dream Views!

Well obviously I'm not going to be taking any Psychoactives, although I am curious do you mean they can destroy my recall or help it?? Stress is probably one big reason I haven't been able to recall my dreams to well also. I will without a doubt take B6, I am truly curious if that really works also. Anyway thanks for some of the tips Paradox!

No problem, A depressant, such as alcohol, can make you go to sleep and not remember any dreams the next morning. but in some stimulants, it can cause increased recall and lucidity. As for stress, relieve it by playing video games, meditating, or anything that calms you down.

Side note: Taking any depressants cause REM rebound, usually the night after consumption. REM rebound happens when REM is suppressed the night before, thus doubling the REM. In turn, giving you amazing vivid dreams.

Ah alright thanks, and one more thing that I asked above but is it at all possible to make the dream journal private at all on the site? Not that I have anything to hide, but it does feel weird for someone to be able to read all of the entries and everything lol.
