      Question Some newbie questions:

      Hey my first post here.

So, in the last years of my life I've been trying to sleep the less that I possibly could, drinking energy drinks and whatnot, because I can't remember almost anything of my dreams, so sleeping 8 hours/day so far looks like wasting 1/3 of my life.

In the hope of making sleep something actually useful, I'm willing to try Lucid Dreaming, so I have some questions:

Will I get less rested than if I where sleeping normally? Because obviously when you're LDing you'r brain is more active than if you weren't.

What comes first, the "paralysis" or the hallucination? I keep trying to move while I'm waiting for the paralysis, if the hallucination come first then I don't need to try to move.
I rarely remember my dreams, will it affect me somehow? Should I start with the DDiary first? (I don't want to use it, if I don't need to )

If something hurt you in a LD do you actually feel it?

Well I guess that's all, I'm pretty excited about it, any tips would be great.
And don't mind my english =/

Either one can come first, or you may only have one of them or even neither. Be careful about moving when trying to WILD.

If you don't remember your regular dreams, how do you expect to remember your lucid ones? And yes, keeping a dream journal is one of the most important things you can do for lucid dreaming.

If something hurt you in a LD do you actually feel it?
Depends on how vivid your dream is. It's possible to feel pain in dreams, but it doesn't carry over to real life.

      Good luck. =)

Hidden pretty much summed it up, and I mostly just wanted to say hi and welcome you to DV Thanks for joining!

One thing I wanted to add is that as Hidden said, it's possible to experience pain in dreams, but you can keep that from happening and I've found it's usually more of a thought of pain rather than truly feeling pain. My dreams tend to move around so quickly, too, that it doesn't last long. I've been stabbed, and it's more that realization that I'm injured that I experience rather than feeling the knife.

You'll be fine. Enjoy your dreams and let us know if there's any other ways we can help. See you around!

to DV Toady! With me, getting just as much rest when LDing is hit or miss! What I mean by that is sometimes I'll wake up from an LD and be so into it and excited that it is tough to get back to sleep. That shouldn't normally be a problem though, and overall I think you'll get just as much rest LDing as sleeping normally. +1 on the dream journal, it is one of the best things you can do. Even when I don't LD during a certain night it is still great fun to review the non-lucid dreams I did have. You can even get to the point where you are remembering 3+ dreams per night, which is an interesting experience to say the least, especially if the dreams connect with one another in any way.

Anywho, I feel like I'm rambling, good luck and welcome again!
