Lucid? Did I only dream of lucidity?

I'm not sure what happened. I had a false awakening, which I thought was real, so I held my nose and blew. Sure enough, it was a dream. From there, I was still in my room. Nothing really changed. I could barely even move my view. Everything was still dream-like and hazy. Soon I was elsewhere, but I can't remember if I remembered I was in a dream. My recollection is really hazy, all I can really remember is doing a reality check, figuring out I was dreaming, getting stuck for a bit, and then going to somewhere else with my friend, where my jeans got painted red. Lucid baby steps? Not lucid? Dreamt of lucidity?

      Hey Rubber

By definition what you had was a lucid dream. A lot of members might describe it as a semi-lucid dream but there is no real definition for a semi-lucid dream as such that I'm aware of. A lucid dream is just a dream where you are aware that you are dreaming. You do not have to change or control the dream for it to be lucid.

I had my first lucid last week and in total I have had three. My first lucid was fairly similar to yours in that I struggled to change my view and was frozen but mine did not occur from a false awakening. My first two were only around 10-15 seconds but my third was 5-6 minutes as i can recall.

Take it as a positive as the exitement should improve your chances of having another one.

Is your recollection hazy because the dream wasn't particularly vivid? or was it due to when you recorded your dream the next morning?

I'm still new though so perhaps someone with more experience can answer in more detail?

I think part of the problem is that I dont really remember it. The dream was in fact vivid, but I don't recall when I lost lucidity. My dreams are usually very fragmented and disorientating, so I have a lot of trouble remembering them. I remember being boggled at first when I found out I was dreaming. I was thinking "Im dreaming. Oh my god im dreaming. Lets get out of my room." I tried to change my view (move) but the best I could do was kind of rotate it a little bit, and back. I was stuck looking at my window. From there it's fuzzy, I remember hanging with a friend in some green landscape, and getting my jeans messed up with paint. I vaguely recall saying to my friend "I'm in a dream! This is a dream!" but I'm not certain.

In conclusion, I think I both:

      Need better recall skills,

and need to experience another LD.

Also, what's really exciting for me is that this is my first time I've ever attempted to LD. What Luck. Does it occur more often in younger people?

not to sure if i'm honest... hopefully someone will stumble across this thread and be able to answer that for you...

I think i was quite lucky.. I went about a week with no lucid dreams then after having my first lucid I then had two lucid the next night! That was over the weekend and it's been two nights since and no lucid's so my pattern is pretty random.

A tip that improved my recall (if you haven't already read this) was to lie completely still with your eyes closed when you wake up in the morning and go over the dream in your head. From experience even leaning over to pick up my pad makes me forget things so what I do now is stay completely still for 2 minutes and just remind myself of little details ...

hardest part is not falling back asleep and thats why I was late for work this morning haha

What also helps to improve recall is keeping a dreamjournal, where you write immediatly everything about your dreams down, after you awoke. The first entries may be a bit confusing, but it really helps. Personnaly, I've improved my dream-recall since I started my dreamjournal last week: yesterday for example I was able to recall 4 dreams
What I want to do while being lucid:
fly [ ] walk through a wall [ ] beating up a group of ninjas [ ] breath ounder water [ ] Talk with "Emil", a character of my novel I've been writing [ ]
