      Afraid of "falling"?

Recently, every fews nights I will be laying in my bed and I will start having this "falling" sensation. I have heard that this has something to do with sleep paralysis and it's a great thing have happen (when you want to lucid dream, anyway.) The problem is that I always get scared when the feeling comes about and immediately try to keep myself from going to sleep. Sometimes this will happen a few times in a row before I go to sleep "normally." I know I am not really falling, I just really don't like the feeling. Any suggestions on how I can overcome my apparent fear and start lucid dreaming this way?

Ah, I love that feeling. On the rare occasions that happens to me, I just ride the wave all the way down. It takes time to get used to the feeling, sure, but when you do, it can be quite the trip. If you notice the falling feeling happens in a certain position, you may want to try adjusting yourself by rolling over onto your side or back or something.

In ParadigmShift's WILD you imagine yourself being dragged across the bed - less frightening than falling.

I've had some success with this technique but haven't been able to initiate the dragging sensation for a while.
My LDing record, if you want to hear about it, is about 4 WILDs, 1 DEILD, and the rest DILDs.

Thanks for the tips, I'll be sure to try the dragging method the next time I start "falling" again.
