Affirmations, do they help ? are they needed

      Guys & Girls,

Whats the difference between autosuggestions and affirmations ?

      1. Are the really needed for lucid dreams ?
      2. When are they to be performed ?
      3. How often are they to be 'said' or 'though' ..(does it make a difference?)
      4. What are the best lines ?

      Thanks !

I believe affirmations and autosuggestions are the same thing.
They work by creating a placebo effect; if you say something enough and believe it, it'll happen.

Personally, I used autosuggestions in my first few days trying to lucid dream, but I dropped them soon afterwards (I'm more about awareness than autosuggestion, works better for me). Because of this, I don't have much more advice other than to make your lines short and memorable.

Don't say something long like "I will enter a lucid dream and have good dream control." Just say, "I will lucid dream tonight". You can choose a few different ones and say them at different times, though.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

1: No, but they help. The mind is a powerful tool, and believing in it/something can change everything.

2: Throughout the day. Let yourself genuinely believe that you'll become lucid—without intending to become lucid—so that you really will.

3: As often as possible. You want to assure yourself it will happen. Establish in your subconscious that is something you desire.

4: "The next time I am dreaming, I will realize that I am dreaming"
4: "Every night, I will lucid dream"
4: "I can lucid dream. I will lucid dream"

      - In order for these to have the best success, you not only have to want this happen, believe it will, but KNOW it WILL happen.
      - You also have to have a firm understanding on what lucid dreaming is, how it works, and what happens.
      - Always having a positive attitude, and being doubtless is always good!

Tip: Saying things out loud have a 150% higher chance of remembering, instilling, and motivating then if you were to simply think it. The same thing applies to writing it. So, write and say your wants/demands/commands, while regularly thinking about it.
      - Also, dont make it a routine!!! Each time you do it, act/think as if it was your first time. Keeping it "fresh/new" has a big part.
