A Question reagarding an experience I had once

      Hello all,

I wanted to ask those who are experienced in this field of dreams (pardon the pun) if they know how to classify this particular experience.

"I was having a dream (this is a long while back, so I can't remember the dream exactly) and my alarm had gone off... I woke and turned off my alarm and went back to sleep. Sometime during the next dream I realized in it that I should have gotten up when my alarm went off. When i realized this I woke the fastest I've ever experienced before, but here is the catch! When I opened my eyes I still saw my dream for about two seconds and then it faded away and I was in my room, left stunned and wondering if I was still dreaming... but my mother yelling for me to get up was proof enough that I WAS awake."

what kind if experience is this considered?

I would label this as a FA (False awakening) You thought you woke up but really you were just in a dream and THEN you woke up. They seem extremaly real!

I was always a dreamer, in childhood especially. People thought I was a little strange.-Charley pride

I have experienced slight visual residue, I guess you could call it, from a dream. It lasts about a second or two. Tactile feelings can stay with me much longer though.

I can relate to the carryover of tactile feelings from a dream. I recently had a dream where I was shot from behind in the lower back. I woke up immediately, and had a tingling / shock-ish sensation where the entrance and exit woulds would have been.

I've never had visual carryover though, but then again I've never woken up that fast.
