      First time?

Heya, I've been lurking the forums for about a week, and I had my first LD this morning...sorta...

I had woken up around 25 minutes before my alarm in real life would've gone off. Then, I went back to sleep.

The strange thing is, my dream after going back to sleep, my first lucid dream ever, was a false awakening. Is this particularly common? I actually remember thinking the previous night, "Lol it would be cool if my first LD was a false awakening." Anyway, I woke up in my dorm, examined my surroundings, noticed something was off, and RC'd. The first RC I tried didn't work exactly. My finger didn't go through my palm. However, my hand felt sorta like fabric, or something, so I was still skeptical of my environment. Then, I tried the nose plug RC and it worked perfectly.

I was excited, but not so much as to wake me up. I was astonished at just how real things seemed. All of my senses appeared to be working quite well. I felt my own hands, and they felt physical, and not just like holograms or something. I was also quite surprised at how much my dorm in the dream looked like my dorm in real life. I didn't outright "fly" or anything, but I did mess around with the gravity and jumped around some.

Then, the dream faded into a different one. A non-lucid one. This dream played out, and I woke up five minutes before my alarm would've gone off.

So, I have two questions from this:

      1. It seems like I would've personally done more to maintain control over my dream. It also seems like I would've done more crazy dream stuff. I realize lucidity and control don't always coincide. Does this include control over oneself?
Maybe I just didn't have much lucidity...

      2. Is it really plausible that one could enter a dream, experience a dream, go into another dream, experience THAT dream, and then wake up, all in 20 minutes? I guess the answer should be "of course", since I just did it, but something about this just seems off.

      Thanks!

      Grats on your first lucid.

You know I was the same for my first. Mine wasn't as vivid as it sounds like yours was but I remember wondering why I didn't attempt to do more. I think with me it was because I was a little shocked. I remember trying to float, failing, then trying to summon a friend of mine and half succeeding. Why didn't I turn my hands into pick axes and start killing zombies? Why didn't I breathe fire and turn the world upside down just to mess with everyone? It all comes with time. I'm assuming when you're more used to the situation you're able to remember to attempt more amazing feats. For instance I successfully flew in my second LD.

As for the dream chain. Yeah. There are people out there who can have chains of lucid dreams even. Look up the DEILD
      method.

      Again, congrats. Keep it up.
