      Hello Everybody

      Im Matt.

Ive come to learn more about exploring my mind's power as it relates to dreaming, and creativity within the dream.

I am new to the concept of lucid dreaming and I am excited to learn and pratice the skill.

The biggest problem that I seem to be having is that I am more of an auditory learner. I can close my eyes an see darkness, no images no colors no paterns. I would like to become more sensitive to the visuals in my mind.

Before now I never paid much attention to the content of my dreams. Went about dreaming as if it were a random movie and I had no control over it. Majority of the time waking never knowing what I dreamed about. I desire more than that.

      Anyway, thats my story.

      -Matt

      Hello Matt. Welcome to dreamviews.

Hope you stick around with lucid dreaming and the forums. Start with the DILD technique and dream journaling, so you can get your first LDs.

Hey and welcome! Dreams are nothing more than awesome. If you pay attention to them, you will have alot of amazing experiences in the future. Like Brunor said, you should start writing all your dreams down. When you wake up, don't move and keep your eyes closed. Try to remember any dreams you might have had. Then write them down.

There are alot of different guides at the Wiki - Dreamviews Lucid Dreaming Community & Resource

Good luck! And don't give up. It's very important that you stay motivated and set up goals. Thinking about Lucid Dreaming alot, expecting it to happen etc, is great.

If you have any questions at all, please feel free to ask away either in this thread, or in a PM. Me and the other Dream Guides will happily help.

Its funny because I found this site late night when researching lucid dreams and how to induce. I remember checking the time in my dream last night, I would look at my watch, look away, than back again. The times kept changing, from OMG Im late for work, to Oh cool I have a few more hours. In that moment, I dont believe that I realized I was in the dream, my question I guess is when in the dream you preform the reality check, I never had the sensation of oh hey, I must be dreaming. It is like a realization that hits you at once? I cant wait to try the techniques and learn all I can.

It sounds like you are close. Whatever you are doing is almost working. Try to be more mindful when you reality check during the day. Really make a point of pausing for a few seconds to question whether or not you are dreaming.

      Hey Matt, welcome to Dreamviews.

Before I got into lucid dreaming, I too didn't pay much attention to my dreams. Then came that one lucid and I was like, "hey, I should try doing this as a hobby!" And, obviously it stuck. Dreams are amazing, you can do anything you want in them as long as you believe you can. You can be as creative as you want. Answering your question about when you first become lucid, yes, it's usually like a sudden realization. "Oh my god, I'm dreaming!"

To combat a common misconception, I'm going to add that lucidity is caused by awareness and not simply doing reality checks over and over again. They're mostly to confirm the fact that you're dreaming. You can do reality checks over and over in a dream without becoming lucid, if you're not conscious enough in the first place.

As for where to start... Like Matte87 and Brunor2 said, the DV wiki is probably the first place to look. There's a list of abbreviations used around the site, tutorials on different lucid dream induction techniques, and a bunch of other stuff.

It might take a while to get your first lucid, but keep at it. It's a great experience! For now, start a dream journal and record the dreams you have each night. Recall is important since you can forget lucids - you might even wake up knowing you had one, but can't remember the details. And read through the tutorials, too.

Feel free to PM me or another dream guide like Matte87 if you need help with something or have questions.
      Good luck!
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.
