Hi! I wouldn't read if you, Kinda pointless

      Hi all!
Just to say how i got to this website
Im a 14 year old male boy from the UK and 2 nights ago i had a very strange dream, Usually when i dream they are massive adventures which i remember for a day then afterwards i can only remember one fragment of the dream or parts of it later on. But i had a 'stale' period of dreams because i go to a boarding school and find it very hard to dream because of stress/work/room with 13 other boys etc and dream very rarely there (but when i dream they are the best dreams i have, epic adventures with twist)

But 2 nights ago i had a very odd dream, a very very odd dream.

For xmas i had got a BB gun and came obsessed with them (remember this)

ohh i forgot to mention i have a xbox 360 and play call of duty,

      Well anyway to the dream.

This is the weird bit -

The dream started with me in the game of call of duty 6 on the map Quarry XD
I am there with a random girl with dark short hair and we are playing the map, well inside the map! Then it gets weirder we are with a small group of people with guns and there are pops and whizs going on all around me and i look out of the warehouse window and see out of all people Jeremy clarkson (Top gear presenter) running accross the map with 2 other people. I let rip with my MP5k (gun) and BB pellets fly everywhere XD, I think i hit them but the memory is a little hazy and i am not sure. I then go back into the room and camp by a window and do nothing. I just shoot people and play/fight.

I woke up and was like WTF? But the dream had interested me to dreams and i wanted more of them because it was very exciting and i always love to dream so i spent the whole day on the internet researching dreams which was very interesting. I then came across lucid dreaming. I remember a year ago i had a dream at school where it was the school day. The dream was very clear {HD} and i was going from 1 lesson to another and then i realized, Wait a minuite! How did i get here? I didnt wake up, where are my friends, I see only the year bellow, I havent had breaky and its lessons! Then i realize it was a dream and suddenly wake up. That dream was very weird because it was very clear but other than that i have had no other lucid dreams.

      Well onto my Questions,

Why did i wake up on that dream when i realized it was a dream?

and 2 why do i dream about very random weird stuff like games and massive adventures where 1 thing leads to another?

Thanks for reading, and sorry for wasting your time !

Hi and welcome! You woke up because your brain doesn't like being lucid. It's hard to stay in the dream when you're conscious, and it usually takes some practice before you can stay in a dream for a longer time. Why you are dreaming about weird stuff is probably because you play alot of video games. If you're a very creative person and love fantasy, then you probably have alot of awesome dreams about it all. If you do things during the day, you will bring some of that into the dream. It's called "Daily Residue".

You're not wasting anyone's time by posting. If you have any more questions feel free to ask them here, or send me or any of the other Dream Guides a PM.

      Keep on dreaming!

      Hello and welcome to DV!

A few things here: it's not good to look at a screen before you go to bed. I can be the biggest hypocrite in this sometimes, but when I was first trying to build up my dream recall I made a rule for myself that I couldn't look at a screen an hour before I went to bed. I used to fall asleep watching movies and stuff before. This dramatically increased my recall!

Are you keeping a regular dream journal? This is so important. There is a vast amount of information on dream journals on this site

As for the waking up after becoming lucid - this happened to me during my first lucid dream! It's so incredibly frustrating. You become lucid and a part of you gets really excited. This can be way too intense a feeling, and your body will wake itself up. I would read up on dream control techniques, as well as trying to prepare yourself in your own way for being able to control your emotions without letting them get the better of you. When you become lucid and immediately wake up, it is almost always because you had that sudden surge of feelings. It's hard. Maintain! Self-control.

My first lucid I realized I was dreaming and shouted, "HOLY #$%^ I'm dreaming! You guys! Look at me!" as I proudly paraded past my dream characters. Then I stuck my hand into a building and my mind was blown and immediately woke up.

Anyway, I wish you the best of luck in your lucid/dreaming endeavors As the lovely Matte87 stated above, feel free to contact any of us dream guides if you have further questions you would rather not post about Or feel free to post! Seriously. This was totally worth reading.
