Just started, have already had one LD

Heya guys, I'm Oranjee. Little background on my LD's -

I had my first recalled LD (before I knew what it was) quite a few years ago. Since I just started keeping a dream journal, I barely remember it. All I recall was that I went back in time and there were dinosaurs. I've always remembered this dream for one reason; halfway through it I realized I was dreaming. Then all of a sudden a bow and arrow appeared in my hands and I killed dinosaurs for about an hour. Finally, I saw a T-rex. It roared, charged at me, then I woke up.

I thought, "Huh, that was cool." That's it...until last night.

Last week, I borrowed Inception from a friend and watched it for the first time. Mind blown. So anyway, three days ago I decided to watch it a second time. I thought, "Wow, this really is really freaking cool." So the next day played with Google a little. And I found this site. I read all day, especially about LDs and RCs. I began doing regular RCs, mainly looking and digital clocks twice and occasionally holding my nose. It was about 11 PM, and I was ready to attempt my first LD. I set my alarm for 4:30, 3 90 minute cycles, and watched an hour of Inception. I turned it off at midnight and layed down. I tryed falling asleep while constantly saying in my head "I will remember my dream" (besides, what's the point of an LD if you can't remember it? ;]). My alarm sounded at 4:30 and I woke up...not remembering anything. :// Discouraged, I decided to try once again. I set the alarm for 6, stared at my hands for about two minutes, and turned off the light and closed my eyes. I didn't attempt MILD this time. Instead, I simply concentrated on the tick-tock of the clock - trying to fall asleep while at the same time remain semi-aware.

After what seemed about five minutes, I began dreaming. I was looking at what seemed to be a video game menu. The colors were shades of blue and grey. There were tabs of different matches happening. I tried to join one, but when I clicked on a tab it would turn grey (unclickable), have a red x on it and move to the front. On each of these tabs was the time - 1:81. I thought this was odd, and knew in the back of my head I was dreaming. Then, I was in a match. I was a blue 2D figure, a lot like the AT&T guy. Finally, I thought of the words Reality Check. I looked at my hands, which were of course blue rectangles. I didn't think I would be able to hold my nose, but I tried. I could breathe! I was in a dream!!! I was so excited, everything started getting blurry and the edges turning black. "NO!" I thought. I kept looking at my hands and rubbing them together, but it didn't work. I woke up.

Dismayed, I immediately tried again without checking the clock. I'm half asleep, half-dreaming. I'm holding a gun. This is different, because it's first-person. The first dream was third. I'm in a cave, and there's ice and snow everywhere. I had tunnel vision and everything was blurry. I kept rubbing my hands together but the image did not improve. I know I'm dreaming, but I'm so lightly asleep I can feel the bed underneath me....it's 6:00 AM. My alarm goes off. I slam the snooze two or three times, and finally decide to get up. These dreams are now the first entries in my first dream journal.

Well, comments? I don't really count the second dream as a full LD because it was so un-vivid. I'm pretty sure WILD works best for me, especially WBTB since that's what worked. Any suggestions before I give my second attempt in a few hours?

tldr; Hi, I'm new. Help me.

      Hello! Welcome to DV!

Your dreams sound really cool! Also, it is a lucid dream if you recognized that you were dreaming, despite how non-vivid it may have been.

Anyway, if you have any more specific questions about lucid dreaming, techniques, dream control, increasing vividness, etc.. please feel free to message me

Cool, then I'm up to three! lol. So tonight I'm going to try and replicate the results. My plan:

      1. Set alarm for 4:30.
      2. Watch TV till 12; go to bed.
      3. Wake up, RC in case of FA, record any dreams, focus on LDing for five minutes, set alarm for 6.
      4. Focus on the tick of my clock, and attempt to WILD.
      5. Try to DEILD if I wake up too early.
      6. Get up at 6 and record any dreams.

      Any suggestions/changes to be made?

Don't watch tv. It's bad to focus on a screen before you go to sleep. Seriously. TV = bad for lucid dreaming. Also, I would go to bed a little earlier. I am a big fan of a full 8 hours of sleep.

Dang it. My alarm woke me up at 4:30. I couldn't remember any dreams, and I accidentally turned off my alarm instead of setting it for 6. :/ Just woke up at 11. Can't remember anything. Oh well.

lol at the rubbing hands failing when i had mine and rubbed my entire dream just left but what i did was i kept rubbing them together in my mind and imagined a warmth and bam slapped from raw blackness straight back to lucid dream no scene change or anything was epic

also try to resist spinning unless you know what you want and are fairly lucid.....
i got attacked by a lion and it hurt like **** so yeah i knew it was fake pain but noooo still hurt

and quick extra i'm no expert but i suggest you get a good nights sleep don't go to bed too late it's not so good for dream recall i believe plus sleep is when your body heals!
every hour before midnight is better than an hour after

any experts feel free to correct me if i'm wrong here?
