      Hi

Hi, I'm new(obviously), I first found out about lucid dreaming in the summer, coincidentally right before inception came out(great movie by the way), when my brother told me about idosers and was telling me about some of the interesting ones he heard about. He was the first one to look up lucid dreaming, but after that I took control. I started doing reality checks on the hour, I set timers for each hour I was awake. Unfortunately I did them very passively, not paying much attention to them, so I only accomplished one lucid dream that summer before I got bored of waiting for nothing and gave up on it for a little while. Then about a month ago I had another accidental lucid dream, in it I had no control and asked my sub-conscience why, I was expecting something like I needed more experience but instead I got the response, "Because we are against you." scary right. Then a couple days ago I had a very frightening nightmare, and I haven't had a nightmare in years, but when I woke up the first thing on my mind was that voice saying' We are against you." So I figure it has to mean something, so the war is on I'm determined to go in to my mind and find the problem.

But, somethings about me, I like music, singing, and all kinds of art. I am an intelligent person, I like stuff like brain teasers riddles, physics, etc. And I guess that is enough about me.

Anything I should know about this site?

Welcome! Well, obviously, any newbie should check the rules (though they are pretty common sense standard things), and briefly review the tutorials section. Pleasant dreams!
I don't usually think, therefore I mostly am not.

Likewise, you cant teach some one who looks for facts to have faith in the absence of facts.

Welcome to the forums, you will not regret your decision to try again. You should definitely start performing reality checks again and start recording all of your dreams as soon as possible. Check out some of the tutorials and find the right techniques for you. If you need help with anything else feel free to ask or send me a private message. Good luck!

welcome to the forum as juvenilepunk said you should keep a dream journal. It will help you understand your dream and may be the <we are against you mystery>

how did you feel as soon as you were in the dream? if you were a bit scared this may be why you had no control and may explain the weird message. of course this is completely understandable for a first time and will fade with experience as you begin to realise that you are safe and under no threat. you must have had some level of control to be able to ask the question so i wouldnt stress over it. it was a very level headed thing to do under those circumstances so you seem to be heading in the right direction. a bit of meditation practice will help you realign with your subconscious and help you quieten your mind to prevent future problems

      Thanks everybody.

And Whiterain, I wasn't scared, in fact I was surprisingly calm. I had control of my actions, and I had limited control of the dream world, I jumped through a window and rather than shatter the glass just disappeared, also I was capable of higher than normal jumping. But it was more like the dream world had altered physics that I could not control, only work with. But I think the message had meaning and was true, I have a tendancy to beat myself up over stuff sometimes, I just see the dreams as a way of finding a solution to that problem.

By the way, I have a dream jurnoul but I forget to use it a lot, does anyone know the best way to remember to write in it.

      Hello and welcome to DV!

With reality checks, it's very important that you do them without making them habit! Also, I'm not so sure about the timer thing. It's a lot better when you have triggers, or things that when you see/think about them, you do a lucid dream.

Dream journals are one of the most important tools in aiding you to lucid dreaming! This will dramatically increase your dream recall, and also ties in with reality checks! Once you have your dream journal going, you can make lists of things that you dream about often and do reality checks when you see them in waking life

Good luck, and feel free to let me know if you ever have any questions!
