Wink New and ready to get going !

      Hi

I'm new to this whole Lucid dream thing. I've thought about it a million times before I've just never achieved it and it never occured to me to use Google. I did today and I guess that's how I got here, and things.

So anyway. I don't know what I'm expecting but you know hi...

I wanted to get started but I don't know how. Yes I've read the "attain lucidity" and "dream signs" and everything. It's just that no matter how out of place anything seems to be, it just feels normal to me.

Having my own exhibit in a closed-off, or perhaps non-existent place that is home to a diamond encrusted platinum plated living and breathing panther that I stole from my friend, whos place of origin is one of those little slot machines you pop a dollar into and win a cheap prize, is ABSOLUTELY normal!

When I asked her if I could keep the panther she said "only if you have 61 dollars to pay me with" and while knowing the entire situation, all I said is "haha oh yeah, I forgot about these things, yeah they are kind of expensive aren't they? Anyway, gotta get back to the mall, I forgot to knead my pancakes and they're getting holey. See you round?"

Incase anyone has not made pancakes before...you do not knead them.

Anyway. What is the best method for me to achieve lucidity? I want the experience. I want the ability to say "now what the fu## is happening here?" instead of "oh, what a boring day it is today, oh look the mailman is eating himself again"

What am I even talking about? haha I have no idea. Sorry if I am weirding anyone out, I need to have breakfast. But if anyone knows the best way for a beginner to begin becoming lucid, hit me back yeah? Thanks!

      Hi mcslurry, welcome to DV!

I got here using Google, too.

If you're focusing on the DILD technique (basically realizing that you're dreaming when the dream has already started), it takes awareness. You really have to question if you're really awake or not. I started out by figuring out what my dream signs were and doing endless reality checks, but nothing happened. I figured that lucidity had more to do with consciousness than just doing a RC and hoping you'd become lucid.

You don't question things in your dreams, so they feel just as "normal" as waking life. But you don't question waking life either, because it too feels "real". So what's the difference between reality and dreams unless you stop and take the time to make sure you're not asleep?

If you aren't aware enough, you might end up doing RCs and just continuing on with the dream.

I've had my share of stupid-obvious experiences in dreams too which made me wake up and do a facepalm. It happens to everyone; just change your technique or keep on trying! It can take a while but if you try hard it WILL happen.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

      I don't have a technique :O

      but, OH PUFFIN

I like replies...that's all. My dreams kinda don't feel real. I just do what I do they don't look as real as real life. I mean, are they meant to? They seem more like a coloured sketch that's been half erased. Maybe I'm dream uhh disabled. Dreamtarded. I dunno. I'm hungry

It's best to check out the techniques, then you can tweak and personalize whichever ones you like best. What you're describing sounds like DILD, which is why I mentioned it in my post.

Try taking vitamin B6 or drinking a glass of apple juice before bed; they can improve how well you remember your dreams, and how vivid they are. You can also try observing things more in real life, and the details might transfer over to your dreams so they don't seem as vague. I find myself describing dreams in insane detail sometimes; the day I had those dreams, I was more aware and observant than normal.

Welcome mcslurry! Enjoy your crazy dreams as the amazing adventures they are! Write them down so you can relive them later on. For getting lucid, just try the different techinques out and think alot about lucid dreaming and you'll be fine. Good luck!

Hey there. I'm also new tohis place and kinda feeling my way around. My dreams are never abnormal so to speak. In your situation the only thing I can suggest is practice. I have never had a full fledged LD but I have dreams every night. If you can not detect abnormalities in ur environment I suggest u use the common hand technique. Simply get into a habit of looking at ur hands about once every hour. In the dream u will look at it hands and they should be so odd it will force lucidity; such as them being on fire like mine always tend to be. Best of luck to u
