What exactly happens before you Lucid Dream?

Do you open your eyes and do an RC then realize you are dreaming?
Do you get up, and see yourself sleeping on your bed?
I don't understand the transition, and I'm generally trying to understand LD through WILD.

      Depending on the technique.

DILD - you're just in the dream like normal, then you suddenly freak and think something like, "oh my gosh, I must be dreaming!" 99% of lucids, from what I've heard, usually involve spontaneous lucidity and reality checks are used after this, not before. They're really just to confirm that you're dreaming, hence the "check" part.

WILD - you're lying down, unmoving and relaxed, for a certain period of time. You feel sleep paralysis. Once it quiets down, you can imagine your dream body getting up or rolling out of bed; a dream may also form around you (or you can visualize it yourself); in this case, once it's done forming you can just go do whatever you want.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

I imagine myself getting up out of my bed, and not physically do this?

It sounds to me like you should go take a trip to the tutorial section lol. Your post is asking things that are very easily answered there. We can't write these tutorials for you in the posts when you can be reading all about them in that section

So take a trip to the tut section... explore a little, and come back and ask any questions you may have lol

      Welcome to DV!
