      How to Perform Reality Checks?

      When i do reality checks, i say, "Is this real?.. am i dreaming?.. Can i put my finger through left hand? reality check."
      Than i precede to put my finger through my hand, or whatever other reality check it is..

      Or one i made up - is to open a door to see what's there, shut it, than open it to see if everything's the same.
      I dunno, i feel like an idiot doing it all the time, and it can be rather silly and tedious. I feel like its not gonna work and doing it wrong.. Am i doing it wrong?

      Can anyone give me some pointers on how they do it??

      It's really just about questioning reality - your skepticism should be as genuine as possible. I do it by thinking, "well, dreams and reality both feel real while we're in them - we don't question this in dreams though, so we never become lucid."

      Reality checks are great to confirm that you're actually awake or asleep, so do them along with the above. Usually when you're dreaming, you won't be 100% conscious and won't feel embarrassed or stupid for opening and closing a door, or pushing your finger through your palm. That can be another signal that you're dreaming!
