      Exclamation newbie with question

hello all few years ago i was introduced to lucid dreaming by a friend he naturally had the ability from a child and loved every minute of it. as i have been reading up on it few years later i realized i had a strange dream before not sure if this would be considered a just a dream but i wanted to ask someone so this is why i am here.

now in the dream i cannot remember what happened before i woke up but i woke up in my bed not noticing it was a dream and went about playing with my brothers and sisters as a child like self not noticing i was dreaming but i had some control as my movements or how i would play with my siblings but i had let them pick the games to play and let them decide most of the dreams course which was mostly daily activity's we used to do even going out side and everything. my question is do you have to realize your dreaming to be in total control to become lucid.

one more thing i had one more dream i'll try to make it short as i can

now this dream i had a dvd playing and fell asleep and the music kept replaying and my dream created two female singers just random women belting out a repeated lyrics which must have been from the dvd player left on. i got angry and could not take it so i blew up the apartment building to the side of them and have it come down on them and this is the weird part (also i'm not that mean in real life but listening to that over and over made me really mad) as i go to look at their faces in the rubble i go to spit on the one girls face as if i had succeeded i had woken up at the same time and before i even open my eyes i feel and hear the spit shoot out of my mouth and land on my floor. i know it's weird but i have never had a dream where my reality effected my dream (dvd music playing in the dream) and my dream affected my reality (spitting on dreamgirls face only to wake on spit on my floor)

thanks for your time sorry it's so long

The deffinition of Lucid is awarness. So to have a lucid dream you have to be aware that your dreaming.

Yes sounds can get into our dreams if there in real life, especially a song that is repetitive.

When your asleep you are paralyzed. So if your in a light sleep sometimes our brain doesnt paralyze you and you can act out small parts of your dream.

I was always a dreamer, in childhood especially. People thought I was a little strange.-Charley pride

You can have control without being lucid. You can also be lucid without having control. Like dak said, the only thing that is necessary for a dream to be counted as a lucid, is knowing that you are dreaming within the dream. If you do this, you are lucid. The last thing you were going to do was spit, but you woke as you were spitting/breaking your SP, which caused you to perform the action in real life. That was actually pretty comical. Don't worry, this rarely happens.
