Most effective way to keep a Dream Journal?

For the longest time I have been keeping a written dream journal but I have found that it is often really hard to write when I wake up from a dream. Sometimes I can't even read what I write. I've now been starting to type up my dreams on my computer and save them as a word document because it seems to be a lot easier. I like the concept of writing in a journal so I've been wanting to transfer my typed dreams into my written journal but I wanted to hear from the experiences of some people.

Do you keep an electronic, or written Dream Journal? And what do you think would be the most effective? Does it matter at all?

Well, I usually just document it first on here, as I can usually remember my dreams quite clearly. If I have a detailed dream then I'll write it down on a notepad when I wake up. I don't really think either method is better than the other, it just depends on how much detail you can recall.

I write them down on the computer, in a word document. I find this works fine for me, since I leave my computer on at night and can type it out write away. I type quickly and write relatively slowly, so this works much better for me. I also like writing them on the computer because I can change the color of the text, and can always search for keywords to look for dreamsigns, which I couldn't do very easily if my dreams were kept in notebooks.

I should probably keep a notepad by my bed though, for brief notes, as I sometimes wake up during the night and just fall back asleep, forgetting whatever dreams I awoke from.

Both! I have an app on my iPad called penultimate... That's what I use, so it written but also electronics.

I was always a dreamer, in childhood especially. People thought I was a little strange.-Charley pride

I hope it's ok to revive this thread. I didn't want to start an entirely new thread on the same topic.

I like to write mine in a physical notebook. I used to use an audio recording app, but I could never understand myself the next day when I played the recordings. To make writing easier, I want to share a really cool trick that I have been doing to journal my dreams. Here it is:

I choose the red light because it's less assaulting to my eyes than the blue or white lights. It works really well!!
