Thread: first proper lucid dream! (wall of text, sorry guys)

hi all, just registered here (though i've been a reader for a long time) to talk about this morning.

quick background, i used to LD every now and then when i was a kid and then thought nothing more of it til about a year ago when for some reason i started doing my research and learned about WILD and DILD and all that. since then i've been doing dream checks every now and then every day, as well as trying to WILD a lot of the time. with WILD though, i kept getting 'almost there', finding myself getting pulled right into the hypnagogic images and then getting really excited and waking myself up.

i've also *almost* DILD'ed a few times- i've done successful sleep checks by pinching my nose and breathing, and then thought 'ok, i'm dreaming' and then found my eyes slowlyyyy shutting and waking myself up on opening them back up.

BUT
this morning i woke up really early for some reason, and of course went back to sleep (did the finger tapping technique described in the FILD thread actually, don't think this had anything to do with it though) and got into an awesome dream about something or other, being on some awesome night out or something. and then something clicked and i did a sleep check and found myself to be dreaming- "ok, what do i do now? spin around in circles, that'll stabilize the dream" and WHOA. i did a couple turns and, well, i guess you'll all know the feeling. it was like - although i already knew i was dreaming and had some control over my thoughts and actions, i didn't feel like i was a physical person, but then i did a few twirls and just felt this wave of energy like electricity rushing to the tips of my fingers. and i thought ok, what now? i'll try to fly. and i flew! it's actually that simple, i was amazed
unfortunately as i was flying over the rooftops, i got overexcited and of course woke myself up =(

still, pretty chuffed
