      talking about dreams

      Hey dreamers,

still new here. I am about to go to sleep - took 2.5mg mg melatonin about 20 minutes ago. Kinda feeling some effects. Wanted to talk about dreaming before I went to bed to get my mind on the subject.

      So question [to you]:

What is the earliest dream you can remember?

Personally, the earliest dream I can remember is back when I must have been ~ 6 years old. It has been a dream I have always been able to remember and I am not sure why.

I am at my old house and my mom begins to vacuum the floor. She doesnt want me getting in her way so she tells me to go play outside. I go outside and it is a sunny and bright day but then a seemingly giant hawk begins to circle above and swoop down towards me. I run towards the door of my house and bang on the door to get in but my mother cannot hear me over the vacuum. I am pinned against the door and the hawk comes down at me for a final blow.

That is all that I remember.

The dream itself is pretty uninteresting. But I do ask myself a question about the dream that I do find interesting. How old was I when I dreamt this?

I am 25 years old now and I can almost always remember having this memory. I can only guess at my age because in the dream I was in my old house - the house i lived in 1st grade and before. After that we moved elsewhere.

So because i dreamt of this house i believe that i must have been around 6 years old. But that could be the farthest thing from reality. I could have had the dream much later in elementary school but because I confuse the memory of the dream...with the memory of the house it is impossible for me to determine the actual temporal/ spatial relation to this memory.

This brings me to a further point. I have a lot of old and seemingly mundane memories of very early childhood - though to describe them to someone else they are mundane, but to me the still hold that strangeness to them that something was not right.

How can I know that any phenomenological experience I had as a child in the early years is not merely a distorted memory of a dream I had?

I have a memory..again before I was 6 years old, going to the park with my family. I was embarrassed to meet any other kids because I forgot to wear underwear that day. It is mundane...but to me, the feeling that rose in me then that I can still recall now - is similar to those "i find myself naked in awkward situation dreams" -

so the more I think about it the harder it is to know the certainty of these memories.

anyway...dream dreams dream. Hoping for some vividness tonight. Seems like the older I have gotten the less vivid my dream are. Trying to reverse that these days.

The earliest... I was probably five ish. It was lucid. I was at a pool and my mom didn't want me to get wet so I just walked on the water.

I know what your talking about memories that could be a dream.

I have a memory (or dream) were me and my mom were sitting at a long table and waiting on someone. And then I remember going through a door and my grandma coming to this mysterious place. I remember being here for hours but I only remember a couple minutes.

That's all I remember. My mom says that this never happened.

I was always a dreamer, in childhood especially. People thought I was a little strange.-Charley pride

Speaking of not being able to distinguish reality from dreaming...last night was freaking weird.

I tried to go to bed at midnight but my gf calls me with some bullshit argument till 1am. I finally get to sleep and wake up at 6:19. I wasnt intending to do any special ld techniques like WBTB or anything, but I was up - so I decided to take 100mg of B6 and see what would happen (havent tried it before).

I was still very tired and felt like going straight back to sleep. So I get in bed and close my eyes and try to sleep. I wait...and wait...and wait. I cant sleep. An hour passes and I begin think that I made a mistake, I wont be able to get any more sleep and I might aswel just get up and stay up. I am beginning to get angry at myself.

Within the next 30 minutes things start getting weird.

I begin to have some visualizations that begin to seem very real. But I know I am bed and that they are just my thoughts. But A moment crosses my mind will I was like shit...did I just do that? FML

Suddenly my entire existence feels heavy. It is a struggle to move, I can hardly open my eyes and I thought the b6 just hit me and was screwing with me. I feel like I forced myself to get up and again...it was a real struggle to move. And then I transition into my dream and things begin to get a bit more confused for my recall.

I remember going to the mall, cops stealing the door off my car, my dad having some badass tats, trying to explain to my family about b6 - and for the most part this stuff seemed pretty real and vivid, but never reached "real life" nor the vividness of lucidity.

During all this I remember trying to wake myself up and knock me out of my b6 stupor. I remember struggling to get my eyes open and trying to do a reality check - but then later I actually woke up and felt fine. So i dont know if that first time was a FA or not.

I know I was definitely experiencing some sleep paralysis, but I don't know which parts when I was lying bed I was asleep or dreaming. That line has never seemed so blurred together for me before.

It seems like I had a WILD without the L. I want to try it again...but I am worried that I'll just have that "heavy" experience again which for some reason...i dont think I can become lucid in.

As a child, I used to have plenty of nightmares (I'm 22 now, and they´re really rare nowadays), so if you ask me about childhood dreamind, I'll remember only the strangest dreams. I think I'll have a hard time trying to remember a pleasant one, although I surely had my share of them, as well.

Most of them involved family members dying. Decapitation was the most commom, and seeing disembodied heads (but still half-alive) all around was commom too. Bodies without heads were a little more unusual. The alternative for having the head cut off was having it run-over by cars, usually with me driving it, by accident. The tires would run over the head, making it explode like a watermelon.

Sometimes, I just had the notion that someone was dead, like if the dream took place a few days after the death; and those were the worst, because they felt really real, even after waking up. If I stop to think about it, I can still recall the feeling, and it's dreadful.

I usually write a lot, so brace yourselves. There are three of my oldest dreams (as far as I can remember) that I would like to describe. I'll be quick (at least, as much as I can). I cannot say exactly how old I was, but I believe somewhere around 5 or 6 years old on all of these.

1 - The first was me and my mom in the backyard. It was night and she was hanging clothes to dry (this situation was really recurrent in my dreams). She accidentally dropped the bed sheet she was hanging, but instead of falling to the ground, it started floating and turned into a ghost (like in those Tom & Jerry cartoons I used to watch a lot). It began chasing me, I got scared and woke up.

2 - Another one was me in the kitchen. It was night too. I was sitting at the table, and heard a knocking at the door which leads to the backyard. I turned to look and there were two big, scary, humanoid roosters outside looking at me. They knocked the door down and started chasing me. On the previous dream, I wasn't THAT scared of the ghost, at least comparing to this pair of roosters. Man, as I was writing this, I can say that tears were close to come to my eyes. Nowadays, whenever I remember this dream at night, I avoid going to the kitchen, and if I REALLY have to go there, I get out as fast as possible, and in NO WAY I look at anywhere near the door.

3 - I was at my backyard, but instead of the grass, there was only earth, blackened as if it was burnt. The borders of the grass area were burning with tall flames and I was in the middle pf this area. I looked at the house, at the wall with my room's window. On the left side, there was a big cross made of flames. Something else happened there, but I cannot recall at this moment.

4 - This one is the most different as it took place in a room I've never been to in my waking life. It was a cheap hotel room. I was part of a team that was investigating something and it felt like some action movie. Some woman got in the room (she was the criminal we were investigating) and a guy told me to hurry into the batrhoom. I got there and locked the door down as I heard lots of screaming. I looked through the keyhole and the woman was on the bed, whipping a guy on his fours. She saw I was looking and came running to the door ordering me to open it. As I didn't open, she started shooting a gun at the door. After it stopped, I walked out of the bathroom and the door was open, the woman wasn't there, and there were plenty of bodies in the floor, the bed and other unusual places. All of them were really bloody. The worst was a guy hanging in the rack (is it the correct name? In portuguese, it's called "mancebo") He was dead, naked and bleeding through every hole, including (which shocked me) his penis.

      This is a "mancebo":

Sorry for the wall of text! But I hope it (or at least a part of it) was interesting!
