So, when someone tell you that you are dreaming you'll probably say: ''Ok, so what?''
And lucid dream is when you manage to use that logical part in the dreams, so when someone say: ''Hey man, you are dreaming!'', you say ''Hmm, I should do a reality check''
In the beggining is hard, but just keep trying and there will be results
      Good luck

when you do your reality checks, try not to just let them become a habit. really get into them, visualising yourself becoming lucid in the dream whenever you do them. also rotate the types of check you do to stop them becoming habit forming. whenever you reality check in real life, dont say 'ok this time im not dreaming' ever. this can also become a habit which can spill over into dreams. good luck

      That was my point

"What if you slept, and what if in your sleep you dreamed you went to heaven and there
you plucked a strange and beautiful flower, and what if when you awoke you had the flower in your hand? Ah,
      what then?"
      - Samuel Taylor Coleridge
