      Question Questions

I have some questions about dreaming and attaining lucidity.

How often should I be doing these reality checks? Every time I think about It or at regular intervals? How about every time I see a dream sign? Any combination of the above.

What is a dream sign? I am just a little confused. If you see blue crystals in all your dreams. Should you do a RC every time you see blue crystals?

      What is a dream guide?

Is there anything else I can do to recognize that I am dreaming? Besides reality checks, and seeing my cat fly by?

How do I stop this dream tunnel vision? In some of my dreams, I feel like I am only seeing a small visual field, and It is very dark and quiet?

Is there any way I can improve dream recall without waking myself up in the night to document dreams?

The more good reality checks you do the better. A good reality check is one in which you really test reality and think about why you are reality checking.

Yes anything that appears frequently in your dreams is a dream sign.

There are two types of dreamguides. A dreamguide is a rank on the forums. If you see a member with a green name they are a dreamguide. But I'm assuming you mean the kind in your dreams. They are dream characters that you can learn from in your dreams.

You can become lucid randomly some times. Or if you are constantly aware you can become lucid every night.

When you have tunnel vision just imagine the dream scene expanding in your field of vision.

The more you sleep the more dreams you will have. And if you keep a dream journal every morning your recall will improve.

All of the above really. The more you RC, the more beneficial it's going to be for you. If you're lazy and don't want to RC that often, then the most important time to RC is when seeing a dream sign. You can't just go through the motions though, you have to be very consciously aware of your surroundings when doing them in order for them to work in the dream. Also, try a mix of different RCs, I've heard of some people having the nose plug fail in a dream before.

What is a dream sign? I am just a little confused. If you see blue crystals in all your dreams. Should you do a RC every time you see blue crystals?

Yeah, if it appears in all your dreams like that, then it's a dream sign. You should definitely RC every time you see a dream sign, to confirm it.

      What is a dream guide?

A dream character who teaches you about different types of control, is recurring in your dreams. You should be able to summon him when you want.

Is there anything else I can do to recognize that I am dreaming? Besides reality checks, and seeing my cat fly by?

When attempting DILDs, RCs are the main way people become lucid. However, there are different ways that people can go about increasing their awareness. KingYoshi created a tutorial about All Day Awarness, which is basically like a form of walking meditation, in which you try to stay in a heightened state of awareness throughout the day so that when you're in the dream, it's easy to realize it isn't reality.

How do I stop this dream tunnel vision? In some of my dreams, I feel like I am only seeing a small visual field, and It is very dark and quiet?

You could try doing some clarity increasing techniques, like dream spinning or hand rubbing, that's if you're lucid. Eating peanut butter and other foods containing B6 will give you more vivid dreams also.

You don't have to record dreams in the middle of the night, just wait until you wake up in the morning. Once you get better, you will be able to remember multiple dreams throughout the night.
