-Do reality checks as often as possible. Do them on a schedule, whenever you think about it,or whenever you spot a dream sign. I just thought to do one now while I was typing this.
-Look for things that come up regularly. They won't be as easy to spot. I've been at lucid dreaming for about two weeks, and my first dream sign, Ive found, Is interacting in some way with a girl that has dark hair. Because that has happened in three of my dreams in under two weeks. You can't just look for a purple fern or a flying cat. This is why it is EXTREMELY important to write down every detail of a dream that you can remember. If you make it shorter (eg.Just say you were in a room alot like your living room) Instead of describing the room in full, that can save you time, but be sure you know what your talking about later when you look though your journal for dream signs. (for example if you saw a picture from your living room wall in another dream, then you could know that THAT picture was in both your dreams) even if the only memory you have of the first dream is what you wrote down.
Hope this advice helps.
