First lucid dreams - problems with staying lucid...

      Hi,

In the last three months I've had my first lucid dreams, about seven of them. But each time I've woken up after a very short time (15 seconds to 1 minute).
Sometimes I've tried flying immediately (bad idea), other times I've tried relaxing and paying attention to the environment, but I still wake up. It's like my mind non-orally says: "you've become lucid, now don't wake up!" - which of course is exactly what wakes me up.

      How does one stay lucid?

I'm sorry - I guess the title is misleading. My problem is not (only) how to stay lucid, but how to stay dreaming...

Immediatly rub yourb hands. After about 10 secs of rubbing start touching everything around you. You MUST NOT stay calm, you must be active and very aware.
      My opinion:
*Lucid Dreams, OBEs, Astral Projections are one and the same.
*There are no levels of lucidity. Quality changes if you apply some deepening.
*Lucid Dreams do not last more than 20 minutes.
      *Wolves are beautiful.

      Good technique.

Some people also find that spinning (twirling around like a top) can help, too.

The first couple of times I've spun in lucid's it's been like I closed my eyes in the dream and immediately the world faded away and I began to lose consciousness/awareness.
If you don't remain calm, you will wake up. A fight or flight fear/alarm response will increase your heart rate and cause an adrenal response. You'll wake up. Be peaceful, calm, but engage your conscious mind thoroughly. Remember it is a dream, always. Try interacting with your dream landscape to stabilize the dream. Rubbing hands I've heard helps. I've tried touching everything and talking to DCs.
Usually my DCs are the ones that tell me I'm in a dream. But consciousness never seems to last for long. When I've made it a point to experience sensations in a dream to keep lucid, my conscious mind fades into sleep and my new dream goal has become to touch things randomly and I've already forgotten it was a dream...
      In Dream Goals:
Meet with human DC of my choice in stable, prolonged lucid: [_] ...Create room in a dream. Visit repeatedly later: [_]
Use electronic media to view past memories/events: [_] .................Summon DC of deceased childhood pet: [_]
Conjure up unhappy past event. Change it: [_] .............................Make things explode: [_]

Sometimes I have this problem too. Staying calm is essential for me too. Sometimes when I don't have lucid dreams for a while and I finaly have one I am like wooooooww this is a lucid dream and I'm ruin everything. To avoyd this I'm trying to wach everything, not interrupt anything. If I'm talking with DC it changes and I ususaly loose my dreams. So going with the flow works the best for me and after some time I can start to be more active in it. One thing I found very important is that I whatever I do I have to change it after some time otherwise it will become a habbit and I become less consciousness so I'm always forget about one technique and start to use new one. Best luck!

      Thanks!

Thanks for all the advice! I'll try rubbing my hands, touching things around me and staying calm the next time I have a lucid dream.
