Sometimes I have this problem too. Staying calm is essential for me too. Sometimes when I don't have lucid dreams for a while and I finaly have one I am like wooooooww this is a lucid dream and I'm ruin everything. To avoyd this I'm trying to wach everything, not interrupt anything. If I'm talking with DC it changes and I ususaly loose my dreams. So going with the flow works the best for me and after some time I can start to be more active in it. One thing I found very important is that I whatever I do I have to change it after some time otherwise it will become a habbit and I become less consciousness so I'm always forget about one technique and start to use new one.
