did i imagine parts of a dream??

      Hi,

i still class myself as a newbie as i have only been trying this for just over a month now. in that time i have been keeping a dream journal as recommended by just about everyone, to start i wasn't remembering any dreams now i am up to about 3 per night

what i do is when i wake in the night i note down key words about the dream. When i get home in the evening i write my dreams in full when i am writing them i find my self filling details about the dream without thinking about it and not knowing if what i am writing it true or correct.

could it be i am subconsciously remembering what happened or am i guessing logical what may have happened

has this happened to anyone else before?

      Thanks

It sounds like you're remembering certain parts of the dream, but other parts you're just filling in with what you "think" or "want" to be correct. It's not quite a conscious effort, but somewhere in between... I definitely know the feeling that you're describing, but it's rather hard to explain!

The best thing to do is just record more details of the dream, and to do this as soon as you can after waking. This way, you'll end up filling in less so-called-false details because there'll be more dream memory there to reference from, and less "holes". You can do that, or simply stop yourself and recall the visual aspects of the dream - what everything looked like, where you went, and what you did. Again, this will work best if you think about your dream(s) right after you wake up, because elements of a dream can change or be forgotten over time.
