Stress kills recall, so if you're more stressed out then try doing some meditation just before bed. Also if you don't write down your dreams and focus on them, you will remember less and less. Don't slack off with writing them down when you wake up in the middle of the night and really pay attention to them when you wake up. Try to remember as many details as possible and rewind the dream in your head until you can't go further back.

      Good luck!

Slacking off with your dream journal is probably the key factor here. If you cant remember much, just try and write down dot points or small sentences that you can remember. The plot of the dream, where you were, who was there, the colours of the scenes you remember, sounds, feelings. Small things like this will build up your recall and you'll be back on track in no time

Try laying still with your eyes closed when you wake up. Often times your brain will get ready to go back to sleep, which brings back your dream memory. That often will allow you to remember your last dream.
