      Hello and vision questions

Hello to all the people on this forumn, id just first like to thank you all for your many wonderfull and interesting posts, I think there are a lot of people sharing encourgament and enthusiasm and that is great. I have found my way here due to the fact that nobody in my close community is really interested in the dream realm to the point where we can have active conversation over it.

I was hoping to be able to speak with some folks about the expreinces ive been having,
      Ill shortly introduce myself
Im sam, 28 years old , living in copenhagen denmark but originally from uk. I have had before this last month seldom lucid dream, and in each happening I had run around most suprised and then woke up.

This is my second attempt to keep a dream journal and im over a month in now, I think i have come lucid around 5 or six times, and felt in a state of paraylsis around 4 times. I have found my recall is steadily improving and im keeping my motivation, ive also noticed a few regular dreams signs.

The lucid dreams i have entered so far however (excluding the dream that encouraged me to actively attempt to have them!) have been very hard to stay in for too long. The main thing that has been a little weird is that i have little to no eyesight. Would those of you who are practiced at lucid dreaming call this is a common occurence? has anyone actively trained up their visual expereinces, or do you view it as simply a mental block or something that comes in time? often the world has been very blurry and i get snippets.

In early expereinces i woke up, but now im finding i can remain by using this hand rubbing teqnique, or touching the floors and my face and things like that. It is very exciting to use touch but i am craving the visual asepct of the dream in lucidity.
Last night i expreinced two lucid dreams, both within my bedroom i felt things and then something very strange happened.
Very clear vision came yet the top half was blurred like my eyes were mangled or something! I however was very happy to have some vision, and stattered tottering around the dream opened a window and had my first floating dream.
I guess my main query is in how to stablize vision , are there any tricks? spinning seems to not work for me at all and wakes me up, which is a shame because i love the idea.
Any help and tips on vision within the dream realm would be great.

Hoping to hear back from you
      sam

Hello sam, and welcome to DreamViews !

Blurry vision is definitely a common occurrence, especially when you are first starting out. What happens is, you have that blurry vision the first time in a lucid dream, and then your mind expects it the next time. This could very well be why all of your lucids have been blurry so far. Luckily, this can be fixed and it isn't very difficult. In fact, with your last lucid, you may have helped the problem significantly. There are many stabilization techniques out there that can help fix that blurred vision. Once you are able to get things nice and clear, your mind will learn that lucid dreams aren't always blurry. This will lead to clearer and clearer dreams as you progress in your lucid dreaming practice. Anyway, here are a few things to try:

      - Simply rubbing your eyes with your hands. Sometimes just rubbing out the blurriness can clear things up nicely.
      - Look down at the ground for a few moments until everything clears up. By looking down at the ground, your mind has much less information to process. This will give the dream time to settle in and clear right up. Once it is clear, slowly move your head/vision back to the normal position. Now you are good to go.
      - Eye drops. Eye drops are awesome in my experience. Try feeling around in your pockets until you find some eye drops. You could also ask a DC for some or rub some water in your eyes.
      - Performing reality checks for stabilization. RCs really plant that, "I am dreaming," thought in your mind. The deeper it is the more connected to the dream you are. The more connected to the dream, the better the stability of said dream.
      - Staring into focus. Try staring at a single object and imagine everything slowly clearing up. This can help more often than not.

There are many, many other things you can try and you could even make up your own techniques. Just practice and figure out what works best for you. A lot of the times blurriness clears up with experience. Just keep dreaming and keep practicing. Good luck to you!

      thanks

Hey Yoshi, thanks for your long and detailed and helpfull reply. It is amazing that you take time to sit down and help someone like that. Your advice makes sense, and i simply have to wait for my next lucid expereince they seem quite random.
I keep having some strange half lucid expereinces, where its like i havent entered the dream deep enough, and it actaully feels like a struggle to be there.
Im hoping that it is just a case of time and positive mental attitude.
It certainlly encourages me a lot to see people like yourself take the time to help others, so once again
      thanks

No problem at all. I am always glad to help out. Like I said, just keep practicing, learning, gaining experience and find some stabilization that works for you. If you ever have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask!
