MILD takes a while to get used to. Keep at it and i promise you that it will wokr after it has set in internally. alternatively try another technique.
What precisely is your MILD technique consisting of?

It takes time, just keep trying and it may work for you. After about a week or so with no success, you can try another technique.

Typing in caps and demanding isn't going to help. Be patient.

I've only started to try MILD myself.

It had only been 3 hours since you made your post, lots of posts here don't get answered for a while, days, sometimes. Don't get all mad if your post doesn't get answered in 3 hours.

Most lucid techniques take upwards of about a month to work for most people. This number varies greatly, but the norm is usually between one and two months for the first lucid. The only exception to this rule is WILD, which I view as far too much work, but that's just me.

This is true, too. Some people are a lot better suited to some techniques than others. If you wake up naturally during the night, any of the WBTB techniques would suit you well. If you have a stellar memory, DILD and MILD techniques may be a better fit.

MILD takes a while to work. It must become a piece of your routine behavior. The rewards, however, are well worth it, as the effort you're required to put into it gradually decreases over time.

A week may be a bit narrow of a time frame, but it's worth a shot, I guess. Just be careful of bouncing back and forth between techniques randomly; I strongly recommend picking one or two and sticking with them, as all techniques are effective on some level, and all will become more effective and easier to do over time.

Binaural beats are not technically a part of the MILD method. They are a type of lucid aid. The mantra is good, but absolute focus is not necessary. I would also recommend doing your mantra throughout the day, if possible, as this will make things go a bit faster. I would also recommend trying to increase your day-to-day awareness by paying more attention to everything. Easier said than done, believe me.

Nah, you don't HAVE to...but if you insist, I would do some digging into isochronic tones, which are more powerful and easy to use. I can post a link on how to make some, but I get the feeling you get a bit irritated by binaurals...

Haven't heard it, a link would be nice...I'm kinda partial to Viva la Vida by Coldplay.

Now that you've come on here and read about all of the problems you can have LDing, and all of the ways that DON'T work, it's going to be pretty hard to have success, or at least it is for me. The more you read about how it takes a looong time to LD, the longer it will take you.

I'd recommend reading about LDs before bed and imagining exactly how you'd feel and what you'd do. Remember, it's not IF you have an LD, it's WHEN you have an LD. You need to have confidence and believe, or it will be more difficult. Confidence has worked for me. =)

I'm having trouble with the WILD technique, From what people have told me, You kind have to figure out what is the best for you, All people have different experiences when it comes to gaining lucidity, I see some people join the forum who have been having lucids before they even know what they were, And me? I've had maybe 4 in a year and they were very weak. You shouldn't give up though after two days.

      Happy Birthday!

Youtube doesn't really have any great isochronic tones. They're out there, but it is impossible to tell what frequency they broadcast in, or the ones that do tell you aren't that good. I would recommend downloading Audacity (free) and Switch sound file converter (also free), and following this tutorial. See youtube for how to incorporate your own music. Overall, the learning curve is about 10 minutes, tops. Once you master Audacity, you can create your own tones in a great variety of frequencies, and even customize them by adding in the kinds of music you like.

Sorry for the thread hi-jack, but holy crap, I was looking for something like Switch sound file converter!! I have a audacity part down fine, but I was using CD-RW's to convert the wav's into mp3's....

      It was seriously aggravating...

If you generally find it easy to relax emotionally and mentally then your entrainement should have a linear ramp down from 15 Hz to 6.5 Hz over a time of about 10 minutes. You should then listen to the 6.5 Hz tone for 5 minutes before using your mantra. Your mantra should be believable to you. If you don't believe your mantra you will be reinforcing the opposite of your mantra. Use isochronic tones instead of binaural. Get a copy of neuro programmer 3 as you have a 14 day trial.

Please click on the links below, more techniques under investigation to come soon...

After a while, you'll become familiar with how you'll feel in your dream. With my LD's, I have felt distictivly different. However, 2 that I've had when I was little I didn't feel different other than I knew I could wake up if I wanted to (both were nightmares). I did have one recently where I was lucid, but it was passive (didn't take control and jsut watched the dream), but lost lucidity, and I didn't feel diff. But everyone is diff

Anyway, have you read the tutorial on MILD? MILD Tutorial - Dreamviews Lucid Dreaming Community & Resource

Reality checks (RC). Do them often throughout the day. Don't ask what they are. Do some searches and you'll find out what they are . Many people have a watch set and do them every 10-30mins while awake. I could never be arsed with that so did them as I remembered or if a situation felt like I could be dreaming

Mantras. I use "I will know when I'm dreaming" and "I will perform reality checks/ RC's". Pick 1-3 if you like and rotate through them. Say one a few times then switch to another a few times and back and forth

I have not stuck with doing RC's, so my MILD count is low. School's out so I'll be trying more

I'd stick with it for a month and really work at it. Keep on scheduel and don't frustrate yourself. Also, I've found that rereading dreams or browsing on DV puts my mind in a state thinking of dreams, and have found I have better dreams after being on DV for a while. That's jsut me, but try it out!

Find something that works, and go with it. Keep with the RC's and mantras, but maybe try the rereading your dream journal for a few weeks and see if that helps. Some foods also increase the chance of more dreams (Apple juice for me)

Do some research and pick 1-2 things (along with RC and mantra) and keep at them for a few weeks before switching. Sorry this is long, lol

For a while, untill school and a few other things made me tone down my lucid dreaming for a while, I was getting pretty consistent results. If you haven't read the passage on MILD from EWOLD I highly reccomend it - after all, it was written by the man who created the technique. One important thing LaBerge mentions is the most important factor was telling himself to remember to recognie he was dreaming. Also, nowhere in the passage does he specifically reference the use of a directive as a mantra. MILD isn't really about saying anything, it's about feeling it. Consider this, when in waking life you want to remember to do something at a later point, do you recite to yourself over and over "I will do X" for 10 minutes? I always had the best results with MILD when I set my intention before bed to remember to recognize that I was dreaming, then kept that in mind as I fell asleep. It's about putting yourself in the mindset that you will remember to recognize that you're dreaming, and to me it seems that overly verbalizing the idea tends to rob the emotional side of it. In other words, it's not enough to tell yourself to remember, you have to feel that you will remember.

Perhaps I tend to be a more conceptual thinker, but this always seemed to be the most direct and effective method.
